All the anecdotal reports I've heard from people with non R/S Civics / Integras is that steering is just momentarily more difficult at initial turn, akin to a lack of EPS assistance, as you have described. You are greatly exaggerating man. The steering does not "lock up" whatsoever. It "may" become slightly more difficult to "start" the initial turning process of the wheel. We are talking about barely starting the move the steering wheel to make a minor adjustment and you may feel it kind of give resistance. Think of not having power steering. I have had my 23 and have over 24k miles on it. No issues. Stop worrying so much and dramatizing over saying the "steering wheel will lock up" This is complete false information.
