You are greatly exaggerating man. The steering does not "lock up" whatsoever. It "may" become slightly more difficult to "start" the initial turning process of the wheel. We are talking about barely starting the move the steering wheel to make a minor adjustment and you may feel it kind of give resistance. Think of not having power steering. I have had my 23 and have over 24k miles on it. No issues. Stop worrying so much and dramatizing over saying the "steering wheel will lock up" This is complete false information.
All the anecdotal reports I've heard from people with non R/S Civics / Integras is that steering is just momentarily more difficult at initial turn, akin to a lack of EPS assistance, as you have described.

My 2025 CW arrived at the dealership only to be immediately affected by the recall.
This being a safety recall means it has to sit at the dealership until they get the parts while I patiently wait.

I just got the recall notice in my inbox on the Honda Link app. Gonna wait for the initial Guinea pigs to get hacked up by the techs before I bring my car into the shop.

Does anyone know if the front wheels need to be removed for this fix?

If they drop the front subframe I would say yes.

I also have the recall in my inbox. I am gonna wait till spring before track season starts before doing this. I would go immediately though if I ever felt the steering issue but its been fine. I have 1 more track day planned and then the car will sit for winter so will def wait it out.

Yeah, I haven't felt anything weird in the steering but my vin has the recall. If the wheels have to come off, guess I'll have to swap back to the OEM wheels for the repair as I don't trust the dealer to no scratch the wheels or mess up the lug nut key with an impact gun

I got a friend who knows someone with a type R at the service department. Looks like they just heard and parts take a while to get to em. No rush everyone, when I get mine done I’ll also report back :)

That's what I'm worried about too, I was told to wait as they may have updated procedures later that will possibly not need to drop the subframe.

i wonder if you already have the "sticky steering" if this would fix it or if they would still need to replace the rack. and is that covered too?

i got an appointment on Tuesday at the dealer for another issue so i will ask about the recall and let you guys know what they say.

Just did an HRV without disconnecting the steering column, dropping the subframe, or touching the tie rods. all you have to do is hang the splash shield, take the two 12's for brackets out, take 3 rack bolts out, shift rack a few inches to the passenger side, and use a triple square 12 on a wobble to get out the spring. Gravy. Hopefully this works on the other effected vehicles.
