I can attest to Chin they are a Solid group!Asking about experiences with HPDE groups. Can anyone comment about Chin, MVP Track Time, or JustTrackIt? Chin seems to have a good rep just unsure of the other 2. Good bad indifferent? Any to avoid?
OEM. Getting at least 4 track days out of each set. What did you use on the rear?
Chin is decent. You'll be out there in a sea of GT3's, but it's still fun. Haven't done either of the others. I can say that TSCC (Tidewater Sports Car Club) is fantastic, and their classroom sessions are helpful and relevant. I've also enjoyed running with TrackClub USA, they're a bunch of cowboys, but a good group. CRMC is also fun, and a great chance to run against mustangs. NASA is great for networking and meeting new people, but they're my least favorite of the bunch.Asking about experiences with HPDE groups. +1 on the sr11, I liked them so much I bought a 2nd set. Datapoint, 4 days (10hr ish total), pad is at 8.5mm. New is 10mm. Ran on PS4S.I've just used SR11 for the first time, with brand new paragon rotors and A005 slicks. What a beast of a brake pad. Could easily overload the slicks, yet very good to modulate with low pedal pressure. I won't ever go back to rpx now...
That's kind of where I was too. I don't know what I don't know. More expensive pads would have been wasted on me at the moment. I'll spend the difference on seat time!I just ordered some SR11s, will keep the paragon R3s in the back for now and see how it goes. Seems like a lot of people like the SR11 compound so I will give it a try, was just not the right time to spend $900 on pads by going with CSG or ferodo, hopefully making the right decision lol
I had ferodos on my last car, there was lack of good pad choice for that system so you were stuck sharing pads with lambo, so was either expensive pads or hybrid pads which I don’t like. I like a good initial bite, some don’t. Seems like the sr11s have a nice initial bite but it softens up after a few laps so it seems like exactly what I am looking for. Also easy bedding which is also something I am looking for since I am pretty sure my problem with the paragons is that I did not bed em enough before sending itThat's kind of where I was too. I like videos too: SR-11™ & SR-21™ Sintered Racing Pads | Tech Talks – EBC Brakes' Pad Compounds (youtube.com)
Sintered pads require no bedding at all, just mating to the surface. Since I had brand new rotors, my brakes were perfect at the get go. Usually I'd waste almost a full tank of gas bedding in my rpx following ebc's procedure.I had ferodos on my last car, there was lack of good pad choice for that system so you were stuck sharing pads with lambo, so was either expensive pads or hybrid pads which I don’t like. Yeah, I didn't even bother measuring them after a 50+ laps trackday. They seem brand new. I just wished they had less initial bite. The SR21 would certainly be too much.+1 on the sr11, I liked them so much I bought a 2nd set. Datapoint, 4 days (10hr ish total), pad is at 8.5mm. New is 10mm. Ran on PS4S.
my rotors are not new so gonna try to do a light sand on them before putting the pads on. I did see they do recommend some bedding, a few hard stops, if you are already at the track thats fine but I am gonna put these at home and drive to the track so will have to figure that out. So you literally just put them on and drove? thats pretty impressive, I legit hate bedding brakes.Sintered pads require no bedding at all, just mating to the surface. There's a leaflet in the box with instructions. They do recommend a few stops for mating in. But since there's no material transfer, it doesn't require the usual one or two heat cycles for bedding in.my rotors are not new so gonna try to do a light sand on them before putting the pads on. I don't change pads for the track. The sr11 (or the rpx before) are there all the time, even for street driving.
And yeah I don't like bedding brakes too. The rpx asked for a number of 180km/h (112mph) hard stops...
lol yeah I love driving fast but I am not doing 112 stops anyways around here thats for sure. There's a leaflet in the box with instructions. They do recommend a few stops for mating in. But since there's no material transfer, it doesn't require the usual one or two heat cycles for bedding in.
