Google, Apple, your pc/laptop, frequent shopper cards track you. You can use a VPN and cash instead of credit cards. I don't believe in conspiracy theories nor am I a paranoid person. I am a law-abiding citizen so I have nothing to fear unless Elon thinks otherwise lol. No AL tin foil hat for me so I won't be ripping apart car to disable the TCU. I'm small fish so let them collect their data, so far it hasn't affected me detrimentally, if & when it does I will act accordingly.

Not a conspiracy theory and most law-abiding citizens have no awareness of the sheer amount of data being collected from them like in some of the cases you mentioned. Consumers are nothing more than just another IoT endpoint to monitor where the manufacturer then sells usage information to many data brokers to make even more money. Embedding a TCU in the FL5 just kicks even more data collection opportunities up several notches (in most cases without driver awareness/consent). Gone are the days of thinking that a "reasonable expectation of privacy" even exists which is a shame.

VPN is also old school. It means nothing other than obscuring connections from ISP observation. VPN is essentially rendered useless for the most part if the device being used also has telemetry embedded or has other monitoring software embedded.

Digital music files are not obsolete tech. For those that have a large collection accumulated over the years, it is nice that the vehicle provides a "Bluetooth Audio" input to play music that you already own but may have saved on other storage devices (e.g., CD, iPod, SD Card, external drive, etc.).

Use of streaming to play music is convenient but the sound quality varies across apps. You also have to put up with usage monitoring, commercials, subscription fees, and other crap.

I did not buy the FL5 because of its included convenience tech features; most of them I do not even use. If you happen to like or use those that is cool. Do you also like the TCU?

Digital obsolete? Perhaps you mean analog and not digital?
