  1. WOT Performance: HPT Cooling Plate

No rattle on my end either. As reported previously, there is ~1/2" clearance between the top of the plate and bottom of the stock flex pipe.
  2. Cooling mods for the average Joe

Thanks...I understand what you are saying better now. White Lightning is a ceramic coating intended for exhaust components. I never really thought about coating the heat shields though as they are more like reflective baffles instead of a part where heat needs to be shielded or contained. For...
  3. J's Racing Hyper Intercooler

The intercooler includes new O-rings where the tabs need to be removed prior to installing per the instructions. Most instructions when dealing with O-rings do not detail what else should be done with them before installing to prevent binding, twisting, or drying out and sticking over time...
  4. J's Racing Hyper Intercooler

Install should be a piece of cake and I hope to get it done this weekend. I settled on the J's Racing intercooler after reading the forum and researching elsewhere. I prefer T&F vice B&P. Here is what I was tracking for intercoolers: OEM: B&P, 7 lbs. PWR: B&P (US) and T&F (Australia), ~11...
  5. Cooling mods for the average Joe

Not sure what you meant by "turbo cover is around $60 and the catalytic converter is $70"? I guess you are thinking about buying spare heat shields to coat? If that is the case, I would scratch that idea and just use the stock heat shields as they are. They could also be removed and replaced...
  6. Current best intercooler for track use?

    Also a great intercooler.
  7. J's Racing Hyper Intercooler

Here is a short video that compares the HKS and J's Racing (jointly developed with DRL) T&F intercoolers for the FL5: Core Design Details Installation Instructions Weighs 5,895 grams (just a hair under 13 lbs.):
  8. Cooling mods for the average Joe

Duh...You even mentioned the weight in your previous post that I quoted. I'm good in the intercooler department.
  9. Cooling mods for the average Joe

Would you happen to know how much the PWR intercooler weighs? The J's Racing T&F intercooler tips the scale at 5,895 grams (just shy of 13 lbs).
  10. Current best intercooler for track use?

Received in less than 2 months after ordering:
  11. Quality of Life mods for the FL5

Pela 650 Oil Extractor makes oil changes quick, clean and easy. I’ve been using mine for over 20 years where it has saved me a lot of time and money.
  12. Cooling mods for the average Joe

Regarding ceramic exhaust coatings, I’d highly recommend going with Swaintech: https://swaintech.com/race-coatings/race-coating-descriptions/white-lightning-exhaust-coatings/
  13. Cooling mods for the average Joe

I guess I am old school but temperatures for coolant, oil and transmission fluid have closely related optimal operational temperature windows where oil can run a little hotter than the other two. Anything creeping past 225 in those fluid temperatures should warrant attention IMHO but the...
  14. Cooling mods for the average Joe

Yikes and holy crap observing those temps while there is actual airflow.
  15. WOT Performance: HPT Cooling Plate

Outside air temp was between 70-72 degrees on both trips. For reference, here is another post that I made prior to install of the plate and from last Summer where temps were 100+ degrees while stuck in stop and go traffic...
  16. Cooling mods for the average Joe

Another viewpoint to consider the stock FL5 being stuck in a traffic jam on a 100+ degree sunny day with even higher temps pelting off of the asphalt. Everything gets heat soaked fast with the lack of airflow and in my experience last Summer, the cooling system was struggling. I ended up...
  17. Spying on you?

At least "Auto Score" provides the operator with visualizations on some of the data collected and locally analyzed. Game over when the same data is pushed to the cloud with more advanced analytics and overlay visualizations. Benefit and a curse at the same time depending on one's perspective.
  18. Spying on you?

So "Journeys" are recorded in the infotainment system. I removed the TCU on 07 March and the infotainment system contained recordings from build date and through 28 February. These can be viewed by clicking "Honda LogR" and then "Auto Score." Here are a bunch of PICs from my car after...
  19. Cusco Brake Cooling Baffle Plate (3F7 340 A)

Update...I decided to skip grinding a bit off of the baffle plate where it was making contact. Instead, I took the car to a parking lot with the wheel locked full left and then full right to simply break them in naturally. I still have no idea where the baffle plates were making contact but...
  20. WOT Performance: HPT Cooling Plate

In daily driving today after installing the plate yesterday, here are my observations after the engine was warmed up and during a 30 mile commute driving on highways: To Work: No traffic, IATs varied between 10-20 degrees cooler (averaged ~15 degrees cooler). Back Home: Heavy stop and go (10...
