That dt
Got it.
Does that mean cel wont show up or you clear the cel thru hondata?
I also have hondata with phearable tune.
That DTC is basically turned off. Phearable would likely need to make a quick tune modification for you.

Had the car on my lift and was looking and was like shiiit you know what it'd be easy to intercept the coolant line coming off the transmission cooler and send it to a small radiator on the right side. So that's what I did today. Need a few more clamps and reducers that comes in tomorrow. But hopeful I can do some rouge torture testing tomorrow. Got some coolant in my mouth too that was fun 😂

I might actually throw on the PRL FMIC now... Hrm...

I like the concept. How are you feeding air to these coolers I'm curious to see?

So I removed the brake cooler tubes and corresponding brackets on each side for clearance reasons. As you well know, cause your setup is pretty awesome too, the front bumper where the brake cooler tubes connected to them feeds air into the fender area where the coolers are. Then air from there will go through the brake cooler exit on the fender liner. Air will also escape to the area towards the engine bay as well since there is not a perfect seal. So I'm definitely sacrificing air velocity to the brake air guides mounted on the knuckle... But I think overall should still be acceptable.

I may use your Mustang brake inlet with hoses concept and have those feed the brake duct tube on the fender liner to preserve air velocity to the brake guides, but let's see how my setup works first.

Your setup is amazing, lots to learn from it. Look forward to your data as well.

One idea I had originally was to use the brake ducts to feed the oil coolers and then use a splitter tunnel to push air up to the brakes. I still think that idea has merit but it was a bit more of a gamble.

Another idea was to potentially share air from the brake duct and have it y out to both items.

I guess my point is there are some different concepts that could work and I kinda like that you're testing using the brake ducts

At that point it will all be a puddle of molten metal🤣
If anyone else is curious about how hot 700°C is : According to the internets, this is hot enough to burn a diamond in open air! 🤣🤣🤣

I love it. I'm moving an aux radiatior to the side as well. I can't see on that picture - where are the ports on the new radiator? How are you planning to bleed air out of the coolant circuit? My setup requires vacuum bleeding.

Fantastic information in here everyone. Thanks for sharing! Regarding oil temp, I think we all know quality oils can handle 300F, but its the crank / connecting rod bearing metals that start to get questionable at 250F and higher, per Mike Kojima at Moto IQ.

In preparation for a track day at my home track, Road America, in one week, I added an oil cooler. I installed a Setrab Series 1 oil cooler with 25 rows. Mounted on the left side, it has a 36% larger surface area compared to the Setrab 16-row Series 6 cooler included in the HEL kit, and will have a much smaller pressure drop (shorter rows + more rows = less pressure drop).

To accommodate the larger cooler, I removed the left brake duct tube. Airflow now enters through the front bumper brake duct opening, passes over the oil cooler, and exits through the existing fender liner hole where the brake duct previously connected. This ensures continued air supply to the brake air guide for brake cooling. Sorta robbing Peter to pay Paul, but I think in this case, Peter still gets his share too.

I'm using the HEL sandwich plate and custom lines I made. There are no leaks that I've tested extensively on the street. I have a Glowshift dual oil temp / pressure gauge that I'm installing tomorrow. And then its data gathering time. Going to see how this setup does with stock everything else. I'm definitely optimistic.

A bit of fun data... I repurposed the HEL supplied Setrab oil cooler to my 2023 BRZ. That thing is stock running 93 octane. I also mounted it off to the side. I have a local togue road near me that is 9 miles of winding and straightaway bliss. When I hit this road with my BRZ in OEM form, I see oil temps in the mid 270s F, same as the oil temps I see at Road America. With the HEL oil cooler, my max oil temps are 245 F. So definitely about a 30F reduction. That said, undersized for the FL5 application... and with it blocking airflow to the FL5 radiator, doesn't help with water temps.
Not sure if you’ve tracked your FL5 at RA yet, but I took my type s to RA last fall, there were a few other type Rs there and none over heated. Weather was around 70, and seems like this weekend will be nice. Think the high speed nature of the track will help keep you cool and you have oem intercooler. I had no concerns in my car and none of the owners were having issues.

was imagining being dropped into the planet Venus, but even Venus is only mid 400 C. WTF lol

Ports are point back onwards towards engine bay. I'll share more info and data once I prove it out.

Currently installing the PRL intercooler and it's more a pickle than I thought since it so yuuge

Nice, good to know. I guess we'll find out.

Yeah I know the older gentlemen that ran 2:37 on RE71RS and a 2:34 on slicks with his FL5. He didn't have colling issues at RA, but he told me he had issues and pulling power at Sebring.

I'll be driving my BRZ on Sat, then my FL5 on Sun. Doing thermal testing with coolers added for both, so interesting times for me.

Lot of good information in this thread. Wondering if I should sell the HEL cooler I bought during tax season. Looks like some better options might be available down the road. Or should I attempt to repurpose it into a transmission cooler? Is that even necessary?

For what it's worth I personally never had need for a transmission cooler.

From what I've seen from others the hel cooler seems to not be very effective.
