I agree, if they want it, they'll find a way to get it. That's ok, there are lots of other cars out there that I haven't tried, but Lord willing, I'll hang onto the Type R and enjoy it as long as I can. :headbang:
I tried to get him to keep it because it is so much more than the regular C8. But ....he sold it ( I guess GM makes you keep it 6 months to deter flipping ). He somehow had a connection where he ordered it and got it for MSRP.... it took over 2 years. So he made around 10K on it, but yeah, he...
I'm glad you mentioned that. The inner pocket!
I thought those pouches would weaken the signal enough to keep it from being intercepted several feet away but the inner pocket actually blocks it 100%, even next to the car. I suppose you can set the locking system to auto so when you drive up...
I'd like to install a hidden toggle kill switch. Wire the switch in series to something normally powered off while the engine is off but needs 12VDC to start the engine. Maybe ECU power fuse or something ... not sure yet. I guess I'd have to get a relay for that so the switch doesn't take...
Thanks, yeah I was having a hard time believing those numbers. What threw me was the:
On Site
In Transit
Unknown or
All
I thought All might mean all the cars that have moved through the system. I forgot about roastduck's information, thanks for clearing that up.
True, but I'd like to use the car to go out and eat or to places where the car will be in the dark for a few hours. You're right, it's just a car, a cool one and a seemingly rare one at this point but I'll adopt the no worries attitude, Thanks for your perspective.
Yeah, Faraday pouches... whatever you do, don't buy off ebay. I was able to lock and unlock my car from almost 15 feet away using the remote unlock through the pouch. Oddly though, when I wash the car, I only put the key fob about 10 feet away to stop the car from locking and unlocking itself...
I'm not sure how it came up for you but I selected ALL (as in the pic) and ALL years which are 2023 and 2024.
If I select on site only, I get a total of 364 (per the photo).
I don't know how accurate this site is and it doesn't seem right to me, that's why I asked. Anyone else want to chime in?
I was browsing dealer inventory and mark ups on this site> https://www.motoringobsession.com/stock/civic-type-r
Am I reading this right that there are only 667 FL5 cars in the USA for the 2023 and 2024 model year? o_O Holy smokes!!! no wonder I haven't seen any others on the street (at least...
I keep my key in one of those Faraday pouches... they don't exactly block the signal but impede it hopefully enough where someone can't intercept and copy it.
Do you think in general the Type R security is sufficient or is more needed to make it totally theft proof (short of someone loading it...
I think it might be gearing. My Vdub GTI mk7 gets 36 mpg pretty easy and it's Unitronic stage 2 @ 337 hp. I usually just cruise but jump into it once or twice every time I have it out. Gearing is noticeably taller than the Honda.
The Type R got a best of 32 just driving it pretty easy...
I was curious about removing one or the other resonators. Instead I removed the whole 26 pound muffler system and tried a few things such as running a race Flowmaster 3" in and twin 2.5 out, but still not very loud. So I ended up just running a short stainless pipe from where I cut the pipe and...
