Here's a thought- why don't you lean into what the Type R actually is rather than attempt to make it something it's not?

Being your first sports car, am I to assume that you haven't been on a race track before? Why not give it a shot? It's more than capable enough to handle your first few track sessions just as it is when it rolled off the assembly line. You're already tracking towards forged wheels; you might find out you're gonna want to slap some 200 TW tires on them instead of all-seasons.
Optronix, that is correct. Never been on a race track. Have thought about it. Haven't been yet.

My initial search is for a cushy combo of "Touring" wheels and tires for Cross Country highyway driving.
Gonna try do get a set that checks all my boxes without altering any of the OEM FL5 CTR suspension or electronics.
Then maybe keep the stock wheels and tires to try out on a track at some point.

Hey... Bucket List, ammiright?

There's just one thing, though...

What else could the "R" in Type R possibly stand for... if not for "Rally"?

Racing maybe?

If you really wanna raise it, just buy one of those truck lift kits - and straight pipe the exhaust too!😁

Why wait for the bucket list? You have the hard part done already (the car); now you just need to find an event at a local track and have some fun.

I'm sure there are PLENTY of people in Texas on this board that are willing to help walk you through the steps to get you out there. In the meantime there's this handy thread to check out:

Yeah, y'all do know I'm only (half) joking with all this "Jacked up on knobbies" talk, right?

I have to wait for the AWD kit to release before I can get serious about that. 🤠

Thanks for the link. I just watched Ben's intro video. I'll follow his thread.
After I get around Texas a bit visiting friends and family over the next few months I'll have to look more into HPDE and stuff.

So I was doing a little market research and got some photos of the Type R on a rock, for simulation purposes. Suspension manufacturers: please feel free to share these and use the photos for Research and Development science.

Scientific Data:

* The car is factory stock with no modifications.

* The rock is approximately 4 & 1/2 to 5 inches in height.

*Disclaimer* : No Civic Type R was harmed in the process of this totally legitimate, totally not a meme, collection of very scientific photos that are strictly for Research and Development. All positioning of Type R was performed by a total noob amateur and should not be attempted by your kids or grandma at home.

Have you thought of purchasing a Honda Odyssey lifting it and installing a manual transmission in it? You can fit much larger tires on this platform.

Man I wish I had no choice to buy a type r too, even though what I really wanted was a 2001 Pontiac Aztec with 185hp and a schweet 4 speed automatic. But I guess I'll settle for the type r :(

Good ole Pontiac, baby. They really had some unique rides. It's a shame that GM threw Buick a lifeline during downsizing... and threw Pontiac, well, under a bus.

"Buick"? ... More like... 🤢 ... "Puick"!
Wait for it... 🤮🤮🤮!!! What a mess.

Dat Azztec, though. Dat Azztec be lookin tight! 😏

My mother has a 2012 Odyssey and I’ve debated throwing my 57DRs on it since they’re 5x120 and taking it to a Cars & Coffee.

Hey Y'all.

All Y'all who are keeping an eye on this thread... I just finished Uploading a RokBlokz Rally Mud Flaps Install... uuuhhh... "PhLOG"? (Photo Log).

NeRO_CTR ...
You, my friend, were EARLY to the party today!
I actually bought this RokBlokz Rally Mud Flap Set on February 20, 2025. I just couldn't tell you until I finished the Upload to my new Sporky SideGrades thread:

I'm still new to this whole forum thing, but my guess is that THIS thread, where we are now, will be reserved for fun, Semi-Meme "Civic Jacked Up On Knobbies" talk.

The NEW, "Totally Not a Build" thread, will be reserved for ever so slightly more "Grown Up" and "Akshullee" type talk.

All Y'all, that's everyone here, are of course, welcome to join.

Cheers.
