2.25'' OEM vs. 2.68'' VR .... wasn't the consensus that the exh. on DE5/FL5's are pretty darn good to begin with?

specs - im sure you've watched

power rating - backpedal a few secs. whp gains of this 2.7" exhaust fall right be low the leader, AWE.
The stock DE5/FL5 exhaust system is good, you can make over 500whp on the stock exhaust with the right mods and tuning.

By chance, would you happen to have any data comparing just an exhaust swap on high HP cars?

Fl5 has a really great oem exhaust system. However a lot of people just want to change the tone of it.
I've seen a bunch of threads here with people going back to stock It's never performance related though.
End of the day sprung/unsprung weight has performance benefits.

You can, doesn´t mean you should. At 500whp exhaust pressure is fairly high on a 60mm tube. I know from personal experience.

I think the main reason most upgrade is the stock exhaust is whisper quiet as is why I did.
3” exhaust a plus and more room to compliment HP upgrades. Couldn’t be happier with my Remark SS decent weight , perfect fitment and well made with eye candy welds and not slip fit with clamps. Sounds really good to nice and deep. Best bang for the buck out there in my honest opinion .
I must add though that VRP seems like a good deal if it sounds good and has no valve rattle . Love the ti burnt tips to 😳 beautiful !

Too many concerns. Advertised as 3" pipe but it is actually smaller. Then these two claims:
  1. "Crafted from premium titanium, the VR Performance system complements the functional performance of the FL5 by saving up to 40lbs from the stock exhaust system."
  2. "Catback system weighs 31.30 lbs"
There is no front pipe included so it is not a "catback." The OEM exhaust, without including the weight of the front pipe, is 40.34 lbs. For list item 1, I guess 40 lbs was saved when they simply removed the OEM part from the car.

Yea the noise it makes isn’t ideal, I guess I’m getting old because a quiet car that rips, is way more interesting to me than one that rips while making noise. The problem no one talks about with Ti exhausts is that they all crack! Repairing a titanium exhaust is a pain. Too many good quality, reasonably priced SS exhaust on the market(like the Remark SS)to go with Ti.

You know it’s funny my installer mentioned after I said I was on the fence on getting the Titanium version he basically said the same thing as you while shaking is head lol and adding that repairs are very difficult if you do have issues. He liked my SS and said I made the right choice 👍🏻 As far as sound I’m with you and the last thing I wanted was that ear piercing exhaust that sounds faster then what your going and one that has that freeway drone. This Remark is the perfect combination of sound and quiet when you want it with no freeway drone. It’s a perfect exhaust for me and everything I wanted . At idle it has that nice deep sound and when you rip on it very tame but aggressive. It just might be the best sound your going to get out of these motors and couldn’t be happier. oh and the weight savings is me I’m 5’6” 150 soaking wet so I have room for error.😆 but plenty of horsepower hahaha.

You're absolutely right!

500HP FL5s running the stock exhaust (paired with the right bolt-ons and a proper tune) perform flawlessly and still sound surprisingly good.

If you're looking for a budget-friendly way to deepen the exhaust note, removing the smaller resonator is a solid option. Just a heads-up: it does require cutting the factory exhaust, so it's not entirely reversible.

You can also keep the exhaust valve open using the ol’ fuse trick—but fair warning, leave it like that too long and you might start launching squirrels out of the tailpipe on your morning commute! 😆

All a matter of taste but for me the type S sound wasn’t enough regardless of how much horsepower you can make with it . I wanted a little more soul and definitely got it. Other’s mileage will vary for sure but it’s nice we have options to what ever floats your boat . I wasn’t chasing horsepower but letting it breath more with a 3” exhaust is nice . With the right exhaust the sound is really nice and sounds like a sports car not a vacuum cleaner with a turbo 😆

Remark SS and happier than a Cowboy with a new hat ! I was worried and it was all for nothing I’m so happy now .
Nice, those are good kits. I carry that brand because they're made in the USA and good quality.

I highly recommend them and that’s from someone that didn’t want to mess with the stock exhaust. The welds are so beautiful and fitment was perfect. No adjusting just hang it and tightened her up .
