(FINAL UPDATE)

Vehicle: 2022 Civic SI

Total tuned time: 18 Months (Tuned Jan 2023)

Tuned miles driven: 11,000 miles (Tuned at 3,000 miles) car was sold at 14,000 miles

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V1.2

Tunes used: TSP Stage 1, Starter 21 Dual 2

Fuel used: 93 octane

Additional related mods: PRL HVI, PRL TIP, PRL DP, PRL FP, PRL FMIC and Charge Pipes, Hasport RMM

Problems/issues: None

Driving style: Spirited

Tuning experience notes : Pretty much lives in TSP Stage 1 MAP 3 in sport mode. No noticeable clutch slippage. I change the oil every 3,500 miles. Still on 0W20 for now.

Starter tune felt twitchy and had no top end. Drove with the Starter tune for about 500 miles. I just flashed TSP STage 1. It is smoother and has better top end.

Just traded the car in for an FL5. Reverted car back to stock and reverted to factory tune. I removed all the aftermarket parts and it really showed what a huge difference they make. More than just the power. So much more responsive and spooled so much quicker. And the sound was great even with the stock exhaust. Tons of pops and bangs. After I removed all the parts, I ran it for a day on the TSP tune before reverting it back to stock. The tune was a nice upgrade, but the FBO just made the difference. Would have been nice to run it on the Gin turbo with E30, but I got too good a deal on the FL5 to pass up.

All in all, I had a great experience with the SI and the L15 is a pretty impressive engine. It gets too much undeserved hate from some early issues. Never had any fuel dilution or head gasket issues. The gas mileage was fantastic whenever I wasn't driving hard. Which wasn't very often. I ran in map 3 in sport mode 24/7. Clutch never slipped and I believe that waiting 3,000 miles before turning and adding parts allowed the clutch to be well broken in.

This car was one of most fun cars I ever owned. Every time I drove it, I enjoyed every minute.

Total tuned time: 2.5 years (Tuned January 2022)

Tuned miles driven: 52,000km (32,000 miles)

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V1.2

Tunes used: TSP Stage 1+

Fuel used: 93/94 octane

Additional related mods: PRL HVI, 27won intercooler + pipes, 27won DP, 27won FP, rv6 retrofit clutch kit with type r oem clutch. Conti extreme contact sport tires, still slips a little if I floor it in 2nd gear low rpm

Problems/issues: None

Driving style: 80% normal/20% fun

Tuning experience notes
: Permanently on map 3, no issues in any way, car always runs great in all temps, no clutch issues with the upgraded clutch.
The difference between this car currently and stock is massive, I cannot even recommend a stock Si because of how much better it is after bolt ons and tuning it.

Came from a 2019 Coupe SI i never tuned and after tuning this i really had missed out all that time easily best purchase for the car I plan on getting a custom tune some where down the line but for now this tune is perfect

I cant imagine driving an SI stock again biggest regret is not doing it sooner.

(UPDATE)

Vehicle: 2023 Civic Si

Total tuned time: 13 months

Tuned miles driven: 20,000 mi

Tuning device used: KTuner V2

Tune used: Phearable 1.5R - 91 octane version, exclusively on map 3. I wanted the flexibility of the 91 tune for road trips out west, and for better knock control behavior on 93.

Fuel used: 93 octane exclusively when I'm in town.

Additional related mods: the only mod that could possibly effect power is the Megan Racing single-exit catback. Aside from that I'm on different tires, springs, and chassis braces.

Problems/issues: None. Two Blackstone samples show no major concerns despite the tune. Metal contamination is lower with 0w30 over 0w20, so I'll plan on running 0w30 (or heavier) in the summers.

Driving style: Track days and hard pulls multiple times a week. I'm at the tune's 6800rpm rev limiter regularly at the track.

Tuning experience notes: Zero issues with clutch slip, which is something my old 10th gen Si struggled with on the Phearable 1.5 tune.

The attached Blackstone sample from 12/27/23 is with Amsoil Sig 0w20, and the sample from 8/3/24 is with Amsoil Sig 0w30. Both samples have a single track day on them, but the 0w30 sample shows less metals overall.

Going forward, I'll be running 0w30 in the summer and 0w20 in the winter. I may even consider bumping up to 0w40 in the summer to see if there's more improvement. As the report's comments suggest, the current amount of metal (Al @ 10ppm) isn't excessive considering my use-case, but I'd still like to get it lower if I can.

Thank you for the detailed report. Have you noticed any difference in fuel economy with the heavier oil?
What springs are you using. Car looks nicely planted...

I haven't been paying close attention to fuel economy, but there doesn't seem to be a big difference.

For what it's worth, on a recent road trip I was getting about 40mpg. With mixed city/highway & track use, it's currently averaging 31mpg. But that average is still creeping up after last month's track day, where I averaged 9mpg for about an hour :)

I'm on the Eibach pro kit, Whiteline adjustable front ball joints, and I maxed out my front camber at -1.7deg. With each individual mod, I was able to hold more and more speed in corners.

Tuning only really affects fuel economy when you get into boost. If you're just cruising along as a daily driver and easy on the throttle it's close to stock mpg-wise.

Total tuned time: 5 Months

Tuned miles driven: 8,000ish miles

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V1.2

Tunes used: Starter 21 Dual 2(for a week or so) then Pherable 1.5 map 3(non si 23-24psi)

Fuel used: 93 octane

Additional related mods: PRL FMIC and Charge Pipes, 27won downpipe, Oem Si exhaust

Problems/issues: Noticing some clutch slip at high boost after a summer of occasional pulls. Backed down to map 1 for now until I acquire some parts, will report back.

Driving style: Heavy foot when I'm alone, mostly chill highway miles

Tuning experience notes : Early spool on, auto stop disabled, still seemed like my mpg adverage improved over stock tune(mostly highway @75ish).

Total tuned time: 1 week

Tuned miles driven: 200 miles (Tuned at 35,500 miles), I bought the car at 5,000 miles

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V2

Tunes used: Starter 23 Dual 1

Fuel used: 91+ octane (93+ when available)

Additional related mods:
PRL HVI (PRL TIP and TSP High Efficiency Downpipe pre-ordered and pending.)

Problems/issues: None so far

Driving style: Daily Driver semi-reserved, Spirited at times and a hard pull on highway just for fun occasionally. Eventually I plan to get proper track times for the occasional hard run.

Tuning experience notes : I have a low number of miles, so I will only comment on initial experience with this tune.

KTuner set up and configuration (Including associating with Car, ECU, and PC) was super easy. Loaded the Starter 23 Dual 1 basemap. I hooked my external trickle charger to the car and flashed the ECU, process was easy and zero issues.

First test drive, in Normal mode (factory minus torque limiter) car basically felt the same as before the Flash as expected. Might have felt a little smoother on acceleration. In Sport mode (performance base map, with no changes from the Starter 23 default). The throttle response change was pretty noticeable. When the turbo spins up it really kicks in. Saw boost momentarily hit 25+ PSI during a 3rd-4th pull.

Just started to tune this car, but now issues or clutch slipping so far.

UPDATE:

Vehicle:
2022 Civic Hatchback Sport Touring CVT

Total tuned time: A year and 8 months

Tuned miles driven: 32k miles tuned, 10k stock.

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V2

Tunes used: Phearable 1.5 Level 3

Fuel used: 93 octane

Additional related mods: Remark Catback Exhaust

Problems/issues: None

Driving style: Aggresive driving during night time or when there isn't any traffic :)

Tuning experience notes: Just reached 42k miles (32k miles tuned). Have not had any issues whatsoever. Car still drives like new, with regular maintenance on oil changes every 5k miles, 30k miles CVT fluid change, Engine & Air filters every 20k, and brakes are going to be my next maintenance item pretty soon.

Out of topic: I'm having thoughts of swapping for the new Hybrid Civic for the MPGs and similar performance that it offers now. Been also looking at the Tesla Model Y. I test drove one and it was pretty fun. Going to be waiting for the 4th Quarter discounts (Hopefully they give the 0.99% interest rates again).

update:
After I replaced the straight-through downpipe and set the stock turbo boost to 23.5 psi, I upgraded the entire turbo kit, using the G25-550 turbo and referencing PRL's big turbo kit for the 10th gen Civic,I remade the intake and exhaust components, and added a straight-through exhaust valve at the front pipe. At 22 psi, the car feels very exciting to drive, but rebuilding turbo pressure during gear shifts takes a lot of time, so my straight-line acceleration times haven't significantly improved. Recently, KTuner updated the rev limits feature, so I plan to raise the rev limit to 6900 RPM and test my acceleration times again.

UPDATE

Installed the 27 down pipe and the PRL flex fuel kit and now using ktuner running a E30 tune from Phearable.

13000 miles tuned total
Only like 1000 miles on the E30 tune it feels like a different car has power through low to high rpms its wants to go!!
Love the tune John at Phearable is the man.
UPDATE 22 SI

At 20000 tuned miles now. About 8000 on Phearable e30 tunes

I have changed to PRL HVi with cold air duct big difference for the heat down here in FLA and PRL intlet pipe. also installed Fk8 clutch and rv6 flywheel and a PRL rmm made a huge difference in putting the power to the ground. No issues at this point. Change the oil every 3000 miles and really don’t abuse the car
Have ARP head studs and Rv6 BB turbo waiting to install. Honestly real happy with the way car is running right now
