yea people that don’t deal with it just don’t understand. They just leave dumb comments so I ignore them.
Exactly it's like nails on a chalk board to me lol. I know it's a civic, never expected perfection, but you'd think at least one of their test cars had this fault. I remember noticing it in some of the press cars too

Lol yea. Does your glovebox sound as awesome as mine too? (This is an empty glove box)

Thanks for sharing. This would drive me insane. I'm super sensitive to these sorts of noises. There are folks who couldn't tell the difference between an elephant and an umbrella.

I feel the same way. If I had another vehicle I wouldn’t even drive the car until it was fixed. It’s that bad to me. I was thinking the same thing about the test cars. As I see more and more people have the exact same issue, it seems wild they never caught it.
Fingers crossed it doesnt take too long to get the replacement part.

Shouldnt be that long. I mean since it’s an “econobox” as many people here like to use, parts should be readily available 🤓
Just got out of my appointment at the dealership. Same conclusion. New seat frame has been ordered. That's at least helped my peace of mind knowing a fix is in the works

Car isn't cheap at all. Especially with interior being touted on par with luxury brands. All the shit VW gets my car feels like it was built tight as a drum built in Mexico.
I had a mk 7.5 GTI before I got my FK8...quality was definitely better, the Fender sound system bumped too. I was definitely let down with my FK8 build quality and the sound system is ass, but driving dynamics and performance is in a different league.

Seat frame was replaced today and the creak is finally gone. I have to take it back for the glove box because they ran out of time, but super happy the seat is fixed. It makes a huge difference.
Will be interesting to see if it comes back.
Did they explain why the other frame was making noise? Was there an obvious fault?

Thanks for documenting all of this. I hope no one else has to experience what you all are dealing with, but at least we have some insight on what the issues are.

I know mine isn't a Type R but, the seat squeak/creaking is a common issue on this gen. I had to have mine replaced after multiple visits to the dealer. At first, they just lubed all the rails and etc under the seat, and only temporarily solved the issue. Then, went to dealer again and they replaced my seat rails. There are other squeaks around the car, such as the radio (TSB on it), seat belt area, and much more. It is annoying but at the end of the day, it is a civic afterall.

I hope it doesn’t come back, but it did cross my mind. They didn’t explain anything, but I’m going to see if there is anything on the paperwork when I go back tomorrow. All I know is when they used their Honda tech line it had come back to authorizing the seat frame to be replaced.
glad that sorted your issue out! My fear is that the passenger seat is going to the dreaded squeak, although that'd be far less annoying and less of an urgency to correct.

I hear the noise you had with your glovebox. What are they doing to fix it just so we know in case it happens to any of us?

Thanks

Have you had any issue with the glove box and noise? They’re fixing that today for me. I have to say, after the seat being fixed the car is sooo much more enjoyable now.

I had posted earlier about the same sound in the center dash. Like a rattling plastic on plastic rubbing sound in the middle under the infotainment system. It's creeped back up only in late rpm pulls but it was worse for me before it disipated and made noise even at a 10mph drive in the neighborhood.

Another problem is the bolsters for me as well. On the turns it makes creaking sounds.

Wow, the first model year issues are at full blast on the FL5 it seems. Things like these are why these cars aren’t worth the $65k OTD asking price. Because of the “civic” part, not because of the “Type R” part. I hope they sort it all out for y’all.

Totally agree but have to add that this isn't just a first model year issue. All the FK8 models had issues exactly like these and it is just a continuation of the same. It's nothing new.
