Wow, the first model year issues are at full blast on the FL5 it seems. Things like these are why these cars aren’t worth the $65k OTD asking price. Because of the “civic” part, not because of the “Type R” part. I hope they sort it all out for y’all.
Eh. I'm thankful the attention went where it mattered most so far. We're complaining about noises that are just due to material choice or small design aspects as opposed to serious problems in performance. I never owned an FK8 but I've heard there were performance issues on top of these little creaks and squeaks.

Since it's a Type R. It's a Type R. I see what you mean, an Integra Type S will probably not have these problems with this mentality. I hope it transfers for how crazy expensive THAT car will be.

I do agree that altogether it’s minor, and hopefully fixable. But that dash and seat video someone shared seems annoying in excess.

Have you had any issue with the glove box and noise? They’re fixing that today for me. I have to say, after the seat being fixed the car is sooo much more enjoyable now.
Haven't heard any noise by the glove box yet thankfully, but there are rattles under the dash for sure. It happens only when I accelerate.

Me too! But as soon as the weather here in Torrance goes over 60, every noises and rattles from the dash/vent/passenger airbag area goes away. Cheap materials I guess..? XD

It's the rather fast expanding and contracting of the materials due to temperature changes. Expansion and shrinkage of materials affect the fit and tolerances against other parts that's why you hear it. Tolerances/fitment of parts could be better.

Thankfully i have not heard any on my Si.

Update: Glove box still rattles, dash is starting to rattle randomly, and seat is starting to creak ever so slightly now.
Hate to hear that. Spoke with another owner and they somehow beefed up the frame along with the replacement. Trying to get more details on what they did to it

Oh it's maddening lol. If you're referring to my hip shaking video it's just the tip of the iceberg. When driving its much worse

For sure. Worst part is my sport hatch I traded in was perfect, and I’ll never get it back now.
Hang in there man. Long road but we'll get our cars fixed...eventually lol. I talked to the guy who had his seat reinforced somehow and unfortunately he didn't ask exactly what they did to it. Was only a few days ago so it may not be a long term fix anyways

This is going to be the problem here, they 'fix' something with the exact same parts as were on the car, it lasts a while but is the same part. The same problem reoccurring. They take something apart to 'fix' something and the same problem comes back, or another problem occurs because they took things apart to 'fix' the original issue.

You end up backwards and forwards like a yo-yo getting issues 'fixed' and chasing your own tail.

If they don't redesign the parts, change the materials etc. Then it is likely it will be a reoccurring problem.

For a lot of these rattles, noises and vibrations, they can't really redesign anything to fix them. The best you might end up with is foam padding or double sided foam tapes, plastic clips replaced and the likes to try to stop it.

These cars have always been like this and it's nothing new. Not saying every single car has issues, some are lucky and get one that doesn't rattle and vibrate.

The price of these cars is way out of line with the quality now IMO.

How dare you come in here with your doom and gloom lol. I agree though, some issues arent worth chasing (some vibration i even like, makes things feel a little more raw), but others are simply unlivable. Honda can keep taking my seat apart and replacing until it's fixed or replace the seat entirely.

Lol right! I just ordered a whole roll of felt and I plan on lining every possible piece of plastic that I can in the dash, since this thing loves to rattle. The seat I will have to do what you’re doing unfortunately. I love the way the car drives, but it doesn’t matter if the sounds are driving me crazy.
Sounds exactly like what i've done with my jeep lol. So much felt tape over the years as the plastics got brittle. Have a few more weeks to wait for my frame. Just going to ask for them to excessively grease it up and see if it's possible to add some kind of bracket/plate to stiffen the points where the upper frame meets the lower. That's where the weak point seems to be. probably not possible but cant hurt to inquire

U.K. based current C63 owner, it’s a premium car but suffers from a number of creaks and rattles. I also hear it from new 911 owners. Although my BMWs over the last 10 years have been really good.

This is disappointing to read, but all
of the issues seem to have a fix.

The Type R is firm riding performance car, they will crash and rattle a bit, but there’s a difference between the odd creak and rattle and continuous noises.

My FL5 is due in March so interested to hear how this pans out.
