Yeah I saw he mentioned updates were made to the shifter. I was hoping for a little more info but I’m assuming its going to probably be mentioned in his video when it goes out.
I asked for that engineering data and it was not available other than they made changes to the shft assembly, flywheel. No one at events complained about grinds out of the 15+ production cars we had.

The shock and bushing tuning was setup in +R/sport to utilize very sticky tire without overwhelming the suspension. So the Cup 2s we ran are VERY sticky. And I see zero issue with running an even more aggressive tire, even R comp and not having to worry
On my FK8 LE I run normal retail PS4S in 245/35/19 on factory 19x8.5 FK2 Type R wheels for winter so very close to OEM diameter and the same offset. I haven't tracked the car but on hard acceleration through long sweeping smooth corners you can feel the OEM Cup 2s are well matched to the suspension tune and by comparison the car feels undertyred on the same piece of road with the PS4S.

However throw in a few undulations on the 20" Cup 2s and you almost need to drop back to Comfort to avoid it skipping around but then you get the doughy throttle response. From the sounds of it the FL5 is trying to strike a bit of a balance and with the individual settings mode it would be a lot easier to set it up for purely street driven on the OEM PS4S and then a track setting for Cup 2s.

Also the retail Cup 2 Connect are 240 treadwear compare to 180 for the LE Cup 2s. Any idea if the Cup 2 Connect as supplied by Honda are also 240?

@savagegeese awesome review man. So it’s safe to say this car is perfectly fine as a daily in comfort or sport mode? That’s my main concern.

How does CTR compare to the new Si? Is comfort mode more comfortable?
SI is softer all the way around. Comfort in Type R is stilloon firmer side.

The OE Cup2 are supposedly different than the connect versions however I have not seen the part numbers yet.

Thanks for the great review! Although it might be difficult to remember without doing a back to back, how does Comfort mode compare to the FK8 in Comfort with the 20" wheels?

Not gonna lie this kinda worried me. SI was reviewed in a way saying it was harsh in ride quality. If type r Is more firm all the way around even in comfort, that’s a little worrisome. 90% of mine I’m going to be in comfort for daily commute. I stayed in sport mode in the fk8 but even that sounds kinda brutal now lol

this is why test drives are so important but dealers don’t let you test drive these

I don't imagine the FL5 CTR will be any stiffer or harsher for daily driving than your FK8 CTR... I might be wrong but I doubt they'd adjust stiffness to noticeably exceed the FK8. IMO you don't need to be that worried.

As an owner of an 11th gen Si for almost a year and 10k daily driven miles, I completely disagree. Comfort mode in the FL5 is softer than Si stock, but not by much. Matt Maran in his video review agrees.

They may have increased damping to counteract the added compliance from a taller sidewall on the Fl5. Stickier and wider tires also means potentially more roll in corners, which could also warrant stiffer suspension to counteract that.

The tire width and compound change is a good point. However, damping wouldn't need to be increased to account for taller sidewall.

Anyways, I was just trying to say that I wouldn't worry too much! From your post it seemed that way is all. Like @Ministry said, it may not be the case that the FL5 is that much harsher, if at all, over the SI.
