Got the recall done along with the A1 maintenance. Took about 1.5 hours. I didn't notice any issues prior to getting the recall work done but I figure I'd knock it out with the scheduled maintenance and they had the recall parts in stock.

my parents wanted me to give them a ride over the holidays to "show it off" and my mom thought i was going to flip the car when taking a gentle u-turn...lmao. couldn't even go over 3k rpm without her freaking out. :banghead::rolleyes:
The car sounds like its going fast even when going 30 mph. The lack of sound insulation combined with the piped in engine sound. I have my engine sound set to "sport" because I like to hear the rev matching. In comfort, the car is still pretty noisy in the cabin, but I can't hear the rev match well. I enjoy the sound of the downshifts even if its piped in. With that said, no matter what speed I am going all my passengers think I am driving fast. LOL.

Does anyone know if they perform an alignment when performing this fix?

Nope, no alignment needed since the current method does not require them to drop the subframe anymore.

Just got on a "growing list" for this recall. They do not have the part so there is NO ETA. Nice work HONDA.

Ahh I feel bad, my buddy is a service advisor at a dealership and he put one aside for me.

I just got the recall done today. I don't know if I ever felt "sticky steering" before but I did feel like I was hearing a slight dry metal on dry metal feeling when I would crank the wheel far to the left or right. Now I don't hear it anymore.

But one thing I am noticing and am not sure if the tech screwed up or what, but my garage reeks of like a glue/gas smell. I'm assuming it's excess grease that burned off or something.

I had mine done today and I also have that burned grease smell. What is that?

Mechanics left a grease stain on my drivers seat and the alcantara steering wheel feels greasy. Not happy at all.

Well that sucks. I'd talk to the manager and see if they can replace it if you can't get it back to normal.

As for the smell, the odor is still there after I drive it around for a bit but it's much weaker than it was the day of. I have a little endoscope camera and I used it in my engine bay and was able to see the plug area where the worm gear is and it looked normal to me.

I called my dealership and spoke with a service advisor and asked him about this smell. He said it didn't sound normal to him and asked if I wanted to bring it back in so I am bringing it back in on Friday.

I imagine what the smell is is the Hondabond curing on the plug. I watched a video of the recall performed on youtube and part of the finishing steps is to apply Hondabond to the plug before screwing it in. I'm sure the smell is normal but nobody has reported it anywhere online that I can find so I don't know for sure. Guess I'll find out on Friday.

Hondabond should not smell. They probably drop grease somewhere on the engine/exhaust (or some place that gets hot) and when burning, it smells.

On my 2022 Civic SI was done last March 0f 2024 and the new rack was install. Just pickup a 2025 Type R and the VIN was not on the recall list.
