Vehicle: 2023 Civic Si

Total tuned time: 1 month

Tuned miles driven: ≈ 500 km / 311 miles

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V1.2

Tunes used: TSP Stage 1

Fuel used: 94 from Petro Canada

Additional related mods: 27WON downpipe, 27WON frontpipe

Problems/issues:
None

Driving style: I'm boring, I spend most of my time in map 1. I Sometimes go to map 2 but since I don't have an aftermarket clutch I don't touch map 3 (I didn't even try it).

Tuning experience: Car feels amazing. I waited a year before doing anything to it and while I did enjoy it in its stock form, the tune / downpipe / frontpipe combo is really nice.

Update:

Vehicle: 2022 Civic Sport Hatchback (1.5L)

Total tuned time: 1.5 years..ish

Tuned KM driven: 20,000

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V2

Tunes used: 21PSI Basemap & now Phearable 1.5 Non-SI

Fuel used: Exclusively 93/94 octane

Additional related mods: PRL Stage 1 intake, 27WON Short Ram Intake, 27WON Rear Motor Mount, 27WON Downpipe, Turbo Blanket, Muffler Delete, Upper Grille Swap

Problems/issues: Little bit of CVT whine after spirited driving & paddle shifters.

Driving style: Aggressive/Spirited but not fast & furious.

Tuning experience notes: What can I say, it’s been an amazing experience. I’m just a little over 30,000 KM.

I’ve had 5 oil changes & 1 CVT fluid change at 20,000 KM. My goal is to make sure I’m taking car of the car. No brake launching. No WOT from dead stop.

I really loved the base map but I knew I was missing something. After the Downpipe was installed, I waited a couple weeks.

2 hours ago I purchased the Phearable tune, flashed it, drove it around normally for 20 minutes & then had another 20 minutes of fun!

The Phearable tune blew my mind. The transition between “gear ratios” or CVT ratios or whatever it’s called is so flawless. It feels like the fake shifting is completely gone. It’s crazy how clean the acceleration is from 80KPH-160KPH. Need to get new tires before I push it harder than that.

As always, the experience of tuning has added an additional layer to a car I already love. I’ll update again at 50,000 KM

Total tuned time: 3.000Km
Fuel used: KTuner V1.2
Tunes used: Phearable 1.5 RACE
Fuel used: Mostly 91 Octane, most likely 93 for warmer months.
Additional related mods: No power mods. Type R front springs and RSB. Accord end links. WedsSports forged rims.

Problems/issues: None caused by the tune. My clutch was slipping before tuning. This is very disappointing as my 10th. gen. Hatch was rock solid and never slipped, even on the 24PSI map.

Driving style: Aggressive but smooth shifting. No clutch drops.
Tuning experience notes: Super smooth shifts, nice bump in power at 3.000Rpm. Great, great tune.
Drove it in low boost mode for the first 2.000 Km. as I was still breaking it in, still enjoyed it, especially the reduced rev hang.

Had the surprise of my life when I noticed I can disable the stop/start garbage. I had no clue this could be done.

It's well worth for these two features only.
After the first oil change I switched to the 23PSI map, mostly in Sport mode.
Switching to Sport mode is very noticeable.

Total tuned time: 1 week
Mileage Pre-Tune: 3085
Tuned miles driven: 575 miles
Total Mileage: 3660
Area: SoCal

Tuning device: KTuner V2
Tune and Map used: Phearable 1.5R - 91 Octane Version -> Mainly in Map 2 (23PSI target), but sometimes switch to Map 1

Fuel used: 91 Octane - Sourced from a high traffic Costco
Additional related mods: PRL High Volume Intake (HVI)

Problems/issues: None. Will definitely get my first oil change at or before 5k miles though.

Driving style: In between being a fuel economy pro and zipping through traffic if I'm late for work lol

Tuning experience notes: Coming from an e46 330ci that died on me after 10 years, this Si is my first new car.

Feels enjoyable for daily driving. Love how it's easy on the boost in lower gears for city driving, especially during the first 10-15 minutes of warm up driving. In the mid-range, it's pretty peppy and gets on the boost quickly when needing to weave through traffic.

I also don't know if this is in my head, but the clutch engagement feels quicker? Car gets going quicker with less throttle input on flat ground. I smooth shiftly and don't clutch dump at higher RPMs because of the rev hang.

Wish SoCal has 93 octane available though :(. Have filled up with this one Costco gas station in my city for almost all of its fillups, with the exception of 1 tank of 91 octane at Shell. K.con is within range for this tune/octane according to the Phearable team. Driving like a granny I often stay at .49, sometimes elevating to the low/mid .50s. With some non-WOT bursts after 4000rpm, can see the value rise within the .60s. Highest value I've ever seen was .71-.72. Takes a while to learn down if I'm still on the freeway, but learns down quicker when going back to city driving. After this tank, I'll be testing out a few cycles of Chevron tanks and see how k.con reacts before I drive it harder.

I feel like relative to others, I'd say I'm still babying the car since it's my first new one and I'm fixated about taking care of my new things. Planning on keeping this car with minimal issues for a long time or until I trade up. I've been driving light-footed (don't think I've gone past 60-70% throttle) and have yet to do WOT pulls, but I plan to soon. Have yet to find time to take it to the canyons.

Overall, pretty pleased with this purchase and enjoying the ride. I honestly don't know if I plan on adding anything else performance wise to this car besides an IC after doing research on the 1.5t, but we'll see. Will continue to post updates! Will also attach a random datalog if anyone's interested.

To gtman:
Sad to see that this forum isn't as active as the 10th gen one, but I'd like to thank you for what you do for the Civic community. Been lurking there a lot and learning and I really appreciate the community you've built and the knowledge that you share . New to turbo cars and tuning and I'm grateful for all the resources.

I really appreciate the kind words. Thanks for adding your car. Great choice on the 1.5R.

One thing to mention. If you have access to E85 adding a little over a gallon (maybe 1.5 gallons) per tankful will get you close to a 93 equivalent and improve/stabilize your knock control.

Tuning device: KTuner V1.2
Tune and Map used: TSP Stage 1 mostly on Map 1 or 2

Fuel used: 93 octane
Additional related mods: PRL High Volume Intake (HVI), Thermal R&D exhaust

Problems/issues: None

Driving style: I'm 51 years old so I generally drive like an adult but with occasional spirited driving on on/off ramps, Tail of the Dragon, etc.

Tuning experience notes: No plans to add power. TSP stage 1 on map 2 is plenty of power for me. I'm still on the original clutch and although it's marginal, I've had no slippage. When and if that happens I'll do the RV6/Type R retrofit. I ordered TSP/ARP headstuds for added insurance but they are on backorder through June. I love the car so far!

Thanks and will do.

Do you recommend doing this every tank or every other tank? I only ask this because I'm unsure if the ratios would be correct each time since I don't ever go to E. Most of my fill ups are 9-10 gallons.

Also does adding 1-1.5 gallons of E85 wear down on components?

Every tank is generally fine. To be extra cautious just do one gallon E85 per tank of 91. I don't know of any cases where this created problems.

If you're not comfortable doing this, stick with straight 91. The higher knock control won't hurt anything, just reduce power a bit.

Total tuned time: About 2.5 years

Tuned miles driven: 40,000

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V2

Tunes used: Custom tune from Derek Robinson

Fuel used: 91 octane

Additional related mods:
27Won Gin Turbo BB
PRL Titanium Inlet w/ HIV Intake
Custom Catless DP
PRL Intercooler w/ charge pipes
Full 3" Custom Valvetronic exhaust
Competition Stage 2 Clutch (swapping out for RV6 retrofit now)

Problems/issues: The car engine-wise is amazing! Holds the 27won turbo with no issues as of now. I have been having a TON of issues with the competition stage 2 clutch though, I have blown up x7 master cylinders now. I have tried aftermarket and OEM multiple times with no luck. Clutch is WAY too stiff for these cars and is complete overkill. I am updating the clutch with brand new everything to the RV6 Stage 0 retrofit, as it should hold the power. (The same setup TSP runs on their 11th gen) Will update in a few months once the clutch is in.

Driving style: Spirited driving almost every day.

Tuning experience notes: The car tuned wakes the whole car up, even with the stock turbo it is well worth it. With the GIN turbo fills in the fall-off up in the higher rpms and makes the car move. Along with super cool turbo noises. :)

(2nd UPDATE)

Vehicle: 2023 Civic Si

Total tuned time: 1.5 years

Tuned miles driven: 21,000 miles

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V2

Tunes used: TSP MAP 3 25PSI

Fuel used:
93 octane

Additional related mods: none. (added downpipe and front pipe)

Problems/issues:
None

Driving style: normal commuting, 1-2 hard pulls a day

Tuning experience notes: throttle response is fantastic. I have no slippage in the clutch so far, however I’ve only done pulls 4k rpm and above and the clutch has been broken in for 3,000 miles before install. After about 100-200 miles of K Tuner 21psi map I flashed the TSP tune. It is almost as great of a leap from stock to the K tuner map as it was from the K tuner map to TSP. I do most of my driving in commuting dad mode, but it has never skipped a beat in any situation.

18,000 miles later- still on the stock clutch, I have noticed the clutch to be slipping more frequently on the TSP MAP 3 (the sky is blue), even at 4,000 rpm. reliability has been fantastic and have had no issues at all.

Gtman~!! Glad to see you here as well on this forum sir!

Vehicle: 2024 Civic Type R

Total tuned time: Stock right now

Tuned miles driven: 0

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V2.0 maybe if, there's support from them for this vehicle?

Tunes used: Nothing yet

Fuel used: 93 octane

Additional related mods: None yet

Problems/issues: None yet, give me time 😂

Driving style: Babying her until 600 miles, have 495 more to go.

Tuning experience notes: We'll see what develops here.

Why are there no post about K-Tuner that I can find on this site after about three hours of searching google etc. in regard to the K-Tuner units? Do I have to go with hondata for my new baby?

Most 10th gen Type R owners wind up tuning with Hondata. It just seems like Type R's are a big priority for Hondata more so than KTuner.

Matter of fact (I could be wrong) I don't know if KTuner even currently supports the 11th gen Type R.

Problems/issues: None

Driving style: normal commuting, like to put my foot into it once in a a while

Tuning experience notes: Car feels amazing, can't believe the difference the tune made. Even on map 1 the difference is night and day compared to the factory tune.

Also have a question, I disabled early spool on the tune, will it make for a more reliable long term tune with the turbo not spooling up as fast? Are there any disadvantages of enabling or disabling early spool? I mostly drive the car in sport mode so I feel the turbo already spools up very quickly with early spool disabled.

Will update once I've racked up some more miles.
