I'm currently eyeing coilovers to go more track dedicated on my car (beyond alignment, sway bar, brakes, and tires). I currently have 16 days booked for this coming year. Many of these are on Lime Rock Park's Proving Grounds which is half mile (45 second lap times) hot-lap course with no passing (time-trial format). I run in mostly 2nd gear with a couple opportunities for shifting into 3rd gear. As such, these are mostly low speed/short duration corners and I'm looking to speed up the weight transfer both laterally and longitudinally. I also have a few full-track weekends scheduled.
The coilovers I'm most strongly considering are the HKS Hipermax R which are 14kg/mm front & rear and are considerably stiffer than most options on the market, especially up front. I calculated the ride frequency of 3hz on the front and 3.3hz on the rear, which would typically be very high for a street-based car like ours. I do know however that some true racing coilovers are ~14kg front and 20kg+ on the rear. I'm looking for anyone running spring rates this high on the track (and hopefully a bit on the street as well, even though the Type R is not my daily) and can provide input to their experience. Bonus points if anyone is running the Hipermax R's specifically. I'm inclined to trust that HKS wouldn't release a product that worsens the performance of the car, but I also don't think it could be out of the question.
