Is GoTuning Still in Business? Lack of Customer Service with Spoon USA

Hey All,

I preordered a spoon lip from these guys in October and reached out in February for an update. They responded that it was arriving that week.

Now more than a month later they have ghosted me on any simple update.

kind of odd sending them thousands of dollars and they can’t even shoot an email saying it was delayed or this or that.

just a warning. But anyone know if they let go of staff or maybe are having problems?

They are very much in business and are probably just busy.
I just picked up a set of Spoon engine/trans mounts from them last month.

I would advise to just ping them again.

I feel bad because i ping them like once every few weeks and nothing.

I'd just ask for a refund with that type of service, but that's just me. I had planned on picking up some ASM parts from them, but decided to wait until my trip to Yokohama. Maybe I've been out of the scene for too long but I find that the level of service and passion isn't what it used to be.

the thing is that my experience with other small enthusiast shops has always been stellar. I can email evasive, unity, king, bulletproof, and they’ll respond (I don’t care how fast but they actually respond).

There are some passionate teams out there and I expect more from an outlet representing a legendary Japanese brand considering paying them a huge markup vs ordering direct from Japan should at least have some benefit (warranty on parts like this is worthless imo)

that is bonkers I just assumed they didn’t like how politely I asked for a simple update after they said something was happening that actually didn’t.

I bought a $2,500 exhaust around the year (edited) 2007 from GoTuning—which would be roughly $4,000 today, adjusted for inflation. When the resonator failed after a few months, I was pretty much told there was nothing they could do and I was pretty much SOL. Not even a discount on a new resonator or a fair solution for both parties.

Tommy and Aaron are decent people but IMO, the exhaust failure could've been handled a lot better. There also is no excuse for not responding to customer emails. Ghosting is an unacceptable option and should never cross the mind of a business owner. Whether it's a $25.00 reservoir sock or $5000.00 for a wing, I feel all customers deserve a timely response.

They get busy, we have to double bump them sometimes as well. Don't feel bad to haha.

You guys can always purchase through us and we can deal with the hassling of bothering them. ;)

haha. Maybe y’all need to get spoon vendor in place. Options are definitely good for everyone.

Also, I am beyond double bumping. They have just ghosted me after a multi thousand dollar preorder.

Initiate the credit card chargeback and move on. Order it from one of the importers. Even after a hefty shipping charge, it will likely still be cheaper. You shouldn't have to beg these guys to provide you an update. It doesn't matter if they're busy, responding to customer inquiries is...part of business.

definitely cheaper from Japan even with shipping.

My logic was that surely the main authorized USA vendor would get it before BH if I ordered it the literal second preorders went live.

it seemed like that was going to be the case when they originally said it was arriving that week in February.

of course, while they forget they actually have a business and real customers making plans around the item, Blackhawk is already delivering the same splitter.

Also ordered a Crane Neck wing in October and ETA is June through another vendor which informed me of a new ETA I was shocked they reached out before I did. Just got to give different business a chance and see how the customer service is. In the end its up to Spoon directly though.

keep me posted. I understand the waiting game for spoon.

I don’t understand telling someone something is about to arrive and ship a month and a half ago and then ignoring all attempts just to simply know what happened to aforementioned claim
