I got mid 1ohm results too, my Google-fu said that means "2ohm" for a sub, but YMMV? My hunch is this is basically the same setup as the FK8 and I used the 2ohm driver a lot of folks recommended. I think if I did this again I'd just try that cheaper Pioneer 2ohm SVC. To be honest I doubt it matters much with such terrible amping and crossover points OEM.

What's your wiring Q, which is +/-? Pretty sure I went R + and G -

I also have an update on the front doors and the fact I found water spots on my speakers - going to install a baffle or water shield to protect them.

I 100X agree. google says that should need a SVC 2 ohm woofer. i picked up a cheap 2 ohm DVC to mess around with. I'm going to wire it to 1 ohm and see what happens.

Update. : This is more details about the plug on your OEM sub. I wanted to have the option to put it back so this is what I did. Removed the clip from the speaker. Removed the solder. Then filed down the connected just enough to put a connector on it. Now I can use the factory wiring and plug. Issue solved. .

@Icehawk I’m sure the green wire is actually the positive. I’m gonna show you a picture if you trace the wire back on the actual enclosure itself to the plug that goes into the body harness, the bottom is red and then that correlates to the green and white wire on the speaker box. See photo.

Edit: I checked this with the multi-meter and this configuration had a positive value in mV. This according to the internet means it is correct and the sub will fire outward. As long as I don’t mess anything else up 😳

I'm currently awaiting delivery of the speaker I did NOT spend a ton on a sub for the minor improvement that people are saying you see. I'll post more in a few hours once I get the part and get it In. Im also wiring a 2 ohm DVC to 1 Ohm so we will see if the bose amp likes that or not more to follow

I'm gonna end up changing the sub out just like I did with the FK8 so this is great to see.
Nice work guys!

I'm going DVC wired at 1ohm applied via either one of two setups:

1) LC2i pro w/mono Kicker 400.1T

2) Kicker Key 500.1 (built in DSP)

Setup 1 is tried and true, but I'm leaning towards running Kicker Key 500.1 and exploring the possible benefits! (Straight forward wiring and tiny amp without having to worry about tuning the audio on a modern car)

Stay tuned...

Ok update as speaker arrived.
I wanted to make the box more solid so I used a layer of Killmat. Get it all wired up and had to make some new holes to drill in the screws for the sub. Added just a little killmat in the trunk areas as a precaution. I mean less than 5 sheets so not much weight. Here is how it turned out .

Ok, good because now that I see this pic I know I used the red wire as + and the white as - so I'm good there. I didn't reuse the original plug but spliced the wires.

What's the sub name/model that you used?

RECOIL RW8D2 Echo Series 8 Inch 400 Watts Power Dual 2 Ohm Voice Coil, 2" Black-Coated 4 Layer High Temperature Voice Coil, Competition Grade Pressed Paper Cone, Car Audio Subwoofer

I used this to validate the wiring :

And I used a 2 ohm DVC wired in parallel so I’m sitting at 1 ohm give or take.

I am struggling at removing the connector on the sub. Squeezing the clip down but won't budge.
