I've noticed something in the last 2 months of ownership. I feel like the range is very conservative. I did a test today and ran the range down to 16km = 10 miles remaining. The car only took 39L of fuel (10.3 gallons). The tank is rated at 47L = 12.7 gallons.

Anyone else notice this? Or is my car an outlier.

I hate the range on this car. I constantly drive to zero due to this. I had about 16 miles today and filled up and got almost exactly 10.0xx gallon. I would had like it to larger but it is what it is. You can get about 30 more mile after zero but after that it pretty much gambling.

Your experience agrees with mine. I feel like Honda programmed the range to show zero when it gets to 2 gallons remaining. The lack of range is a product of taking a Civic designed around engines that can get 40+mpg and building a low volume high performance car on that platform. The R engine is not very efficient, but performs pretty well. I’m always amazed that BMW gets 400HP out of a B58 and still returns much better mileage in cars that weigh a lot more than the Type R.

Every Honda I've had since 2007 has done the same thing - they always underestimate the remaining 'miles until empty'.
My '21 CTR and my wife's '24 Civic will hit zero miles to go when there's still about 1.5 gallons in the tank.
I suppose this is better than getting it wrong in the other direction.

My FL5 seems to be a lot more conservative than my '22 SI. Maybe it's a track thing and they are alerting you to low fuel way early. Maybe I just drive it a bit more spirited and get worse MPG. Either way, I feel like the R hits 0 miles with a lot more fuel left.

Every vehicle I've owned or driven made in the past 10 years has been the same, 1-3 gallons left on E.

One of my bikes would have 0 range and be on E with a gallon left...... in a 4 gallon tank

This is where honda when cheap with these cars. Maybe they think us owners are responsible enough to fill the tank up with one bar remaining.

I miss old school analog cars with actual fuel needles that goes down to the exact mile.

You should not get your gas tank to very low. Gasoline also do the cooling work to the pump.

at ~10km remaining there is at least 7L in the tank. More than enough
