I’m so glad somebody was here to protect him from questions on the Internet.

I was legitimately curious why somebody would spend money on something and not use it, and I thought I could have a few laughs along the way.
Haven’t had the time
there have been several videos of a 500-600 mile oil change testing results, almost all of which contain particulate metals and also silicones iirc. there's other material content too but either way seems to me like an early break-in oil change could only ever help considering we would be eliminating those materials from circulation as they accumulate. alot of people say that the seating process and changes in friction occurring early on the life of the engine are reason enough to change the oil a bit early. i'm at 2500 miles right now and I've changed twice, once at 600~, and again just recently at 2500. currently on amsoil signature series full synthetic 0w-20. for now the car is not driven on track.

not sure why there's people around here who insist on replying in any other manner than to be helpful. you guys suck
Appreciate your input!

Watching the threads on this forum and others, in most normal-use cases I'm sure you can find reason in oil analyses that early first change is beneficial, but it doesn't seem to actually make a difference in day to day or long term.

Somewhere there is recommendation for "break-in" period for some 500 miles or so of easy driving and still with no OC required, but also this is Honda and they don't tend to design things that require specific user behavior other than don't abuse it. On one hand it doesn't hurt (especially if you are modding/tuning early), on the other hand if you're not flogging it cold or driving a lot it is just more oil to be paid for and recycled.

If you trust your dealer, you can take advantage of the 24 months of OCs.

I would change it once a year especially if you do short drive. Motor oil is considered hygroscopic so unless you keep it in a dry environment it should be change yearly. You should also consider your gas to. I wouldn’t trust the gas after 6 months due to octane degradation unless you keep rpm low. Dot 4 same thing should be change every 1-2 years. I like the gf analogy…
