The law of averages likely proves my point. Adding some arbitrary talking point doesn’t do anything to help your position.
Alright dude enjoy your car. We will see where the market takes us next year.

I've called/emailed over 30 dealers from Boston to OH, most are around 10k over and seen high as 30k in Erie PA. A few will not sell to me since I'm not in the area. I'm in eastern CT and even a Western CT dealer said it was to far. I found 2 MSRP dealers one isn't taking anymore reservations and I'm in the process of getting on the 2nd one. But probably a year or 2 out. I'm guessing I'll be able to find a MSRP deal next year. I'm MSRP or a different ride.

Only ride for me. I can wait 6 month to a year if needed.

2021 CTR - 2022 MDX Type S Advance
A majority of people buying this car are under 45. I’d even say 40.
You may be right but the group that I hang with who are interested in the new FL5 are all over 50.

A great deal of us older enthusiasts still appreciate 3-peddle vehicles along with other cool features such as outstanding Brembo brakes, quick ratio steering, terrific handling, very good acceleration along with terrific options such as a rear CF wing and beautiful 19" optional wheels.

Wished that a more sticky tire was an option for the FL5 such as the Cup 2 tires that came on the FK8 2021 LE model.

I'm in my 70's and looks like I will make a deal sometime next week on my 3rd CTR and can't wait for my vehicle to arrive from Japan.

You can get the Cup 2 Tires for it

I am sure that I can but certainly not from the assembly plant in Japan as was supplied by the previous Swindon, England plant.
Idk what you mean by that. The tire is a dealership installed accessory

By the end of Q1 2023 I doubt any dealers will be getting over 5K ADM. The market is about to adjust and production at that point will be high enough. Hold out and you’ll have one for a reasonable price!
Just some food for thought.

Dealers are going to be very comfortable with ADM. People are going to be calling those dealers every single day. Internet leads every single day from people from all over the country. This is all before reviews even come out which means these people are sickos just like us. The proof is on this forum. You are all calling the same dealerships.

If you are "opening the doors" on the car with the ADM. It isn't if the car will sell, it is when. I don’t think we should treat the CTR as if it is a an Audi A8 and requires some incentive to buy other than simply existing.

If the car is worth having... it is going for good money. There is no way around it. Remember that Elantra N a 1/4 of the forum went gaga over. Look at its pricing preowned.

This leads me to my next discussion. I understand that sales of pre owned cars are going down and so the $ will go down too. That doesn't mean that the cars are going to return to where they should have been all along. Coming down from the absolutely unimaginable zenith isn't an indication the sky is falling. It's just coming down. The fed has a hand in that.

Carvana is an absolutely poor way to judge the market. They have been bleeding money for over a year now. Not dealers.

Carvana depended on high-volume turn and burn. So they will go to the auction and purchase a car under manufacturer warranty. Invest very little and retail it without adding much to their cost per unit. They also depended on buying out leases from customers to get around auction fees. When costs soared with companies like enterprise and Hertz paying crazy $ for cars at the auction and manufactures implemented rules as to who could buy out their leases hit them hard and still does to this day. So they decided they would buy their own auction (ADESA). Manufactures didn't like that move (again trying to protect the dealer body) and started to pull out from that auction. I don't have the answers on how Carvana could've saved themselves in all this but their model really fucked them. You need to keep those shareholders happy.

Franchise dealers have less of an issue. They get a new car, they trade a newer used car. That's the game.

When you go from... make a bunch and figure out how to sell them later. To not meeting demand of the consumer you are going to run into this.

We on this forum are the worst examples of it however. We are stubborn car buyers. Less so than the normal Joe. If I don’t have an Accord on my lot. Joe will look at Camry, Sonata, 6, K5 or whatever else is out there in its class and make a buying decision based off availability.

We will all sit here and wait for the FL5 or say we are going to buy a Blackwing instead or an M2 meanwhile the other half of us will say fuck a Blackwing or M2 and want something different entirely.

So I have nothing but respect for the people who chose what they wanted all along and got the CTR. In the end their car will cost them less to maintain and will hold its value better than the other alternatives. This likely being the better $ decision anyway. Oh and they are enjoying their cars.

A used 2021 w 10k miles is priced at $52k in local market. Sure overall downward pressure in the used market may help but this is a niche car with production constraints nonetheless. Its likely the last ICE R. Lots that is unique to just this car that will command (and get) a premium in this market.
These prices are asset bubble peak phenomena, and just like Facebook stock, down 73% this year, they will pop.

A correction for the used car market is for sure in the future. When is anybody’s guess. However while the type R will be affected it won’t be by much. It’s still a relatively low volume car. It will be the same with the high end low volume market Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. most likely there will be a return to msrp but I wouldn’t count on discounts.
Porsche sales perfectly track the stock market the last 13 years. Your typical Porsche buyer right now is looking in horror at his portfolio and not the Porsche website.

I've been following a few other cars that I am looking. I've have noticed over the last 2-3 months prices stopped climbing, leveled out and now they are starting to sit on the market as no one is paying the premium people were getting 6-8 months ago and are still trying to get.

I’m trying to decide if I want to sell my MK8 Golf R when my Type R comes in, or just trade it in and avoid the hassle/save on tax. It seems the market on these is still fairly decent. Definitely not worth 55 grand or whatever some of these clown dealers are trying to charge for used ones.

Not sure the exact value of your car, but remember when you trade you do not have taxes on your trade value.

So for example, if your trade is valued at $35,000 you save $2,450 on taxes.

MSRP is completely irrelevant (in the US) with ADMs anyway. The market determines how much the car costs...and dealers will always charge as much as they can.
And the market is based on how much people are willing to overpay for a car.
