All I can say is I'm glad I live in the UK and don't have to deal with this idiocy with mark ups. It's absolutely absurd.

I know we all could do this ourselves but when you look at the ‘numbers’ and how he looks at things such as:
MSRP
+5k
+10k
+15k
putting a 3.5% int rate and CA sales tax etc.
Regardless - looking at the pricing and how the ADM will be affecting this car - heck even in 2017 pre-pandemic - this car had ADM added onto it…..sooooo…..I guess I’ll be waiting for a used one later haha.

I've seen two confirmed sales so far. One with a 10K ADM and the other with a 7K ADM.

Within a coupe weeks I bet we see someone pay 15-20K ADM.

Price increase wasn’t much more than I expected. Was thinking 42 myself. Still a good price for this car in todays world. Now I personally would never buy this vehicle at 50 with a dealer mark up. At that point I would just rather spend the extra money and get a G80.

That, M2 or hell even a used C6 Z06 could be had. At 50-60K the door for a lot of high HP cars starts to open.

The out of state dealer that sold me one with my color choice in 2017 at only $2000 over msrp contacted me and told me they heard their bosses saying now $20k over for their single allocation. No idea what color or anything. Another local dealer told me he thinks that if they get one it will be 20k over. We will see if they actually get that but in todays market people will pay I think even with everything high.

Yeah, I called my sales guy that sold me my 2020 at MSRP and he said they are asking 15K ADM on the one they are about to get.

I was working with a dealer that strictly sells at MSRP (plus a non-optional "option" package). The day they get their first allocation, my rep gets back to me and says "I just talked to my boss. We're now adding a $5K markup. Still interested?" The car is hot, hot, hot. Anyone who can find one at MSRP (at least at launch) is lucky, lucky, lucky.

In two days, I went from naively expecting to pay $39K (what I assumed the MSRP would be around) + $4K (for the option package) to realizing I was going to pay no less than $44K + $5K (markup) +$4K (options) + tax/license. Sorry, that's knocking on $60K, at which point this car no longer appeals to me much. :(

I think that is the case for a lot of guys. It appears this generation of Type R buyer isn't going to be your true enthusiast for the most part.

100% feel your pain here ... since we both live in an area with dealers that are super greedy and don't give a rats ass about who they sell the car too as long as they get the mark up and the $$$$$ in there pockets. pretty sad that some of these dealers have sold cars out from under people as well just for the sheer fact that the customer was willing to pay XXXX$ over the person that was ahead of them and to me that a bunch of Bullshit .. but in they end the people that have payed more have the car and the people that have been diligent and in communication with the dealers for over 10+ months just get shit on... I don't really think that it's Hondas fault per say... but its the dealerships that do this and Honda turns and looks the other way when this happens. :rolleyes1: :dunno:
