I just installed Spoon rigid collars, EVS front offset lower ball joints, and removed front strut pins for more camber on my FL5. I've already performed a DIY string alignment on the car but I noticed the Honda manual says to perform the "VSA Neutral Position Memorization" procedure after adjusting any alignment settings. See this section in the manual here.

I am curious if anyone knows how to do this or how necessary it is? I am guessing you need a fancy scanner tool to do it but hopeful that there is a more manual way of doing this.

For those of you who have taken your car to an alignment shop after doing similar mods, did they perform this procedure on your car? I am assuming no unless the work was done at a Honda dealer.

Nope just a proper alignment machine, with a digital print out of your specs and OE...the string alignment will get u a subpar alignment .

@CaryH a lot of really smart people and most professional motorsport teams disagree with you. I've been doing string alignments on all my cars for a while now and haven't had any issues. I would encourage you to check out some of the HP Academy videos for more info on that topic.

That being said, this thread is not about string alignments vs laser alignments. That is completely irrelevant to the VSA Neutral Position Memorization procedure that Honda suggests you perform after adjusting any alignment settings.

Buddy My family has owned a shop on the near west side of Chicago for a half of a century now..and I've seen hundreds of mechanic do the string alignment, and still have to take it to a modern alignment system to get it to OE specs.....so I've witnessed it for about 30+ years now.....and 99% of the time...it has to be corrected.

Thanks for your input but you are off topic. Feel free to start a separate thread if you want to.

Hi mate,

my previous 10th gen hatchback was delivered from the factory with a bad alignment, so I went on day two of ownership to my favourite tyre and alignment shop to correct it.
As they weren't able to reset the chassis ECU afterward, I drove another week or two before going to my dealership for a VSA steering calibration.

I didn't felt a before/after difference in steering behaviour, but I'd still play safe and follow the manual after any major realignment.
