My new Type R arrived at the dealer today, and I am planning to take delivery in a couple weeks (after spring break). I was already on the fence about this purchase and have decided that it is not going to be one of those cars I keep long term. Its more of an itch I want to scratch.

What does everyone think the market will be like if I drive the car for about a month and try to offload in a couple months?
Not trying to make any money and don't mind losing a little too. Would likely try to sell it for about $53k if I can get that on the used market.

Two recently were auctioned, they had less than 50 miles and got around 50k.

Sounds like a pretty bad idea. Just offer someone 3-4k to rent theirs for a month

Yeah anyone willing to pay crazy money for one already has one. People learned from the FK8 market that that isn't gonna happen again.

If the FL5 isn’t a long term keeper, I’m very curious to know what you would consider as such…if you’d indulge us. :)

If you are planning to, get rid of it ASAP. The markets are incredibly volatile and could cause a drop in the used car market. Also, I’ve talked to a few dealerships new for 7-8k ADM. Asking the same for a used FL5 is insane.

A Porsche GT car is on my list
Easy choice. Keep the FL5 as a fun and functional daily. Get a Porsche Cayman GT4 RS for everything else! Or track both of them as the mood hits. šŸ˜„

I see you already have an FK8. Both cars drive similarly enough that I'd save the money and just go for the Porsche GT. Use the 3-10K you will lose for PPF and mods for the Porsche. Don't forget the loss of sales taxes if you aren't trading the Type R into the Porsche Dealer.

Need to update my profile. I no longer have the FK8.

Some used cars don’t lose nearly as much value as others. Some even hold value or gain value (depending on make, model, rarity, milage, wear/tear, etc.) Take a look at used FK8 prices. LOL!!!! If one were to get an FL5 at a good price (no more than $5k ADM, I’d say) it is possible they could sell it after driving it a month or two and not take a loss.
