Thanks for sharing this!

why did you choose the custom tune over this tune?

https://www.twostepperformance.com/products/tsp-stage-1-tune-for-the-fl5-2023-honda-civic-type-r

I have my eye in this one, but I don’t understand the difference between the two other than the price.
Thanks for your interest! Our Stage 1 tune supports what I would call basic bolts on... quality intake, exhaust components, etc. Once you get into turbo upgrades, fueling upgrades, etc custom tuning becomes the only way to optimize the car for maximum (safe) power output.

This is a prototype piece that was not put into production due to CA emissions standards.

How is the stock clutch dealing with all of this power? Still going strong? What do you think is the limit of the stock clutch? Thinking about a turbo upgrade but I like the stock clutch feel so I don't want to have to upgrade to a stiffer one. Thanks.

Looks like I have not updated this thread in quite a while. Making more power these days, still using the stock clutch. It has not yet slipped and I am confident that you don't have to worry about it with any of the typical drop in turbochargers that most of us are using.

The stock clutch will handle the power of a drop-in turbo quite fine. 90% of owners will never need to upgrade the clutch, unless the car is tracked regularly or driven relatively hard often.

Do you guys foresee making software for the new HKS turbo for our FL5 CTRs?

@Two Step Performance can you post dyno graph of regular kuro on the car if you have one. I'm guessing it's about 100 hp difference between the two?
Rv6 660 is about 100hp difference then kuro+ sound about right? I'm guessing they're new turbo should be in the 700hp range 🤔

This chart provide a good illustration of the spool of all 3 turbo chargers. It is not a good representation of max output of all 3 turbos, max output was often limited by Hondata bugs at the time:

With the right fuel, I'd say a regular Kuro is comfortable at up to about 475, a Kuro+ at 550, and an R660 at around 600 probably, but few people do that. If I'm honest, most people that bought an R660 should have bought a smaller turbo and almost no one needs anything bigger than that.

Early spool is an important ingredient in the magic that is the Type R (or Type S) driving experience. Kuro retains a stock like spool, Kuro+ makes a small sacrifice for BIG gains up top. For me, the additional spool time that the R660 adds is too much to be able to enjoy it as much on the street in most scenarios. The 660 does however make big power up top with ease and anti-surge noises are fun for those that have the AS version of that turbo.

Not an off the shelf tune, we always recommend custom tuning for aftermarket turbos. I don't see a very high demand of this turbo though. While it carries a heritage name, it is very expensive and not yet proven by anyone.

@Two Step Performance from the picture on RV6's site the AS turbo has even more lag than the earlier rv6 turbo. Have y'all noticed a big difference between the two? I was set on the rv6 and didn't realize there were two different ones until recently. Butt I think the kuro+ is the sweet spot now.

I've not tested the 660AS on our dyno so I do not have any independent data to share unfortunately. The JSR provided chart does make you wonder.

I believe this just shows a different turbo threshold, not necessarily lag.
