Picked up a brand new '25 Type R on 3/28/25 Friday.

I've owned a GPW '06 S2000 for about 17 years so far and I've finally bought my hero this year.

For now, I'll be applying PPF by myself (7 years of experience) and share photos of my car in this page.

Thx for stopping by.

Why did you tape around the hood vent, when applying the PPF? I'm not an installer...just really curious how the installation process works.

Congrats on the new ride! Being able to apply the PPF yourself is awesome.

No other shops do this because it takes longer labor hours. I've never seen any shops do this around North NJ, or any shops around the world for that matter.

I came up with the taping method on my own while practicing PPF work on my own cars, trying to come up with the safest way to not to damage my cars.

This taping method prevents any smallest chance of cutting the paint while cutting the PPF around the edges. Shops tell you they are pros and "will never cut the paint without any masking". If shops insist they won't go this extra mile, think twice about using them.

Also to add, most shops use pre-cut PPF which is very safe way to have PPF done. But some areas like Hood, or Roof, or certain car's bumpers just can not be done by pre-cut which then will require bulk cut where they have to cut the edges on top of the paint.
