I am a big guy and I find the seats quite tight. I love my type R. I am trying to lose weight. Any suggestions for big body guys.

I know of someone who swapped Sport/Si seats from another 11th gen Civic into their FL5. I think this is your best bet if you're looking for comfort in the short term. The weight sensor/airbag plug is the same AFAIK.

Then when you lose some weight you have pristine Type R seats to use (store them somewhere climate controlled and covered in plastic). I know there have been some Type S owners who have been disappointed with their seats on longer trips already so I don't think that's a good option.

The FL5 seats are incredible and I barely fit as I have a wider waist and torso. I'm also encouraged to lose weight to fit even better in them.

Thanks, trying to figure it out. I wonder ir the ITS seats will fit. I traded my RDX A-spec in on my Type R. The ITS seats looks like the A-Spec seats.

I'm 5'10" and 155lbs - pretty slim build. I found the seats comfortable at first, but not so much on slightly longer trips (1hr+). But after a week, I got used to them 100% and now I could be in them for hours. So it may take a bit to adapt as well.

Someone on the IntegraForums mentioned that their RDX seats were nicer than their ITS so just be aware of that. It would suck to make the change and be even more disappointed. If it were me I would probably try to find seats that are not debossed on the headrest.

I'm 5'11" and about 225lbs and fit pretty snug but not uncomfortable. If you're larger/wider than me I could totally see it being a problem and might downgrade in the short term to black leather Civic seats or something.

A lot of people claim to hate the ITS seats, and I'm on the complete opposite side of the spectrum. The ITS seats, to me, absolutely shine on long trips, and as much as people give me shit about it on here my comparison is from a series of Porsches I've owned before this car, all with adaptive sports seats. I have no issues with them whatsoever, in fact they're a high point of the car.

That said I'm 5'11" 175, athletic build.

Yes, a lot of humblebragging in this post I see it, but I don't care. Seats are subjective and it's important to weigh in that not all of the hate on the ITS seats are justified... but definitely go experience them first before trying to perform a swap.

And keep the CTR seats because you WILL lose weight.

Those lbs will come off😂. In all seriousness I agree, especially if you don’t track the car. They will be super comfortable for every day driving and they have their purpose. I’m not a tall guy 5’8”and have a slim build 140 lbs so the Type R seats work for me, but I think the ITS seats will be a better daily seat.

I’m 5’9” about 185lbs and anymore of a fat ass on myself I probably wouldn’t like them much. They do get snug in the bottom portion of the seat that you are referring to.

But the main issue I’ve had is just getting the seat adjusted to my liking. I feel like I’m in between settings. I felt this way in my last civic as well (9th gen Si) so I’m still fighting with these seats almost 10 months into owning it trying to get a nice setting but I just don’t think it’s gonna happen.

I think a lot of my issue would benefit from power adjustable seats for micro adjustments.

But in your situation, I think I’d do the type S seats.

I'm also finding myself between settings, I can't quite work it out so I'm in the right position. I feel I'm too high up and the seats reclined too much, but I'm on the lowest setting and the next click on the recliner is too upright.

I've given up and am adjusting my expectations rather than the seat now.

One can have large hips and legs because they’re athletic and like to squat and deadlift. The seat bolsters are not just a “overweight people problem” and I’m still getting used to them myself. They do kind of push into the sides of my legs which isn’t super comfortable. Be careful with that Peloton recommendation!🤣 The back bolsters are the same way but not quite as bad, probably because I’m not pushing as much of my overall body weight into them. The seats definitely seem to be softening up and are more compliant now. When I first got in the car and for even a few weeks after, I was wondering if I might need to get different seats as they started out pretty stiff. Thankfully that’s not the case as they continue to improve with use. I recently made a 5 hour round trip with normal rest stops and was totally fine the whole drive. If you’re above average size (depending on your build), don’t be too quick to give up on the seats!

I've put about 5500 miles on mine and they are definitely more comfy than they were new. Also no signs of wear and they are holding up great!
