Hi all - I just took delivery of my 25 CTR and love it so far. That said, while getting ready to drive it over to the shop for PPF and ceramic, I noticed that there were a few deep gouges/scratches in the drivers side interior door panel around the handle

The car hadn’t been on the lot for long and it was essentially still in the wrapper, as I asked them not to do any cleaning or prep on the car. So maybe it came from the factory like this?

In any event, they are deep enough where I can feel them so they’re not repairable. Should I take this up with the dealer at this point or just let sleeping dogs lie? I know it’s relatively minor but it still bothers me.

EDIT: Found additional damage all around the inner door frame and on some of the exterior plastic trim. It looks like either someone tried to break into the car on the dealer lot or they locked the keys in the car and tried to pry the door open. Would you guys even entertain them fixing this or should I push for them to buy back the car? Makes sense now why the interior door panel itself was damaged.

TIA

More seasoned owners can correct me if I'm wrong, but I *think* the black, lighted trim piece where the brunt of your damage is can be replaced. This would save you from having to replace the whole door panel.

Either way though have to weigh the merits of whether you want a tech a Honda pulling away at your trim for what is relatively minor damage

It is going to pick up more as you use it. I would leave it be.

i would just ask for a discount. you can replace the entire inner door panel as well. if you choose to go that route.

I know some people have tried Magic Erasers for some of the plastic. For the piece that has the light, there are CF surrounds you could put over it.

Magic Erasers are like a very fine sandpaper, would definitely proceed with caution using those.

I will add, if you have a good relationship with the Service Department, you could see if they would file a claim. I've done this before with brand new cars that came with scratches.

My sales guy scratched the top of my steering wheel with the keys during delivery. It stopped bothering me after a few weeks...

Yeah, my car came with some minor issues. I decided not to worry about it. It’s either I let it go OR risk stuff getting messed up worse by trying to fix it. I’ve been down this road before.😂

UPDATE: I spoke to the GM and they ordered me a new panel. They said they'll install or ship it to me, my preference, which is nice. I might just have it shipped so I can make the swap on my own at some point.

Good result. The panel is super easy to remove. Just do it yourself.

unless they were willing to fix it and heavy discount the car (and I mean HEAVY) I would not want to keep it.
