If you’re just getting back into autox, the CTR seems like it could be a great fit. It’s fine around town, managed to feel “special” from the driver’s seat, and it’s plenty enjoyable on course.

I ran another local event last weekend and continue to be impressed. The site is a club size track that gets enough cones to keep down the top speed… mostly transitions but a couple sweepers also. I’m still running factory alignment, tires, and bars along with +R mode with the long press to disable stability/TC. Depending on how much the kids decide to autox (we’ve got triplets), I’ll decide whether to snag wheels/tires and a bar. IMO, the stock setup is plenty good enough for locals and especially so if you’re just dipping your toes back into the hobby.

Goodbye 10th gen Civic Si in GS, hello FL5 in BS!

I've got everything squared away except for brake pads and possibly a rear alignment. In the Si, I always used the stock pads because there wasn't ever any need to get more aggressive. Does the FL5 need more track-focused pads?

And coming from the Si, I'm familiar with the "pull the pin, kick the tire" alignment for the front which I've already done. What is the meta for rear alignment?

In my opinion you do not need to upgrade from the stock pads for autocross. I run in BS in the Kansas City region. We have around 150 cars each event, with multiple people who have trophied at nationals, and I am in the top 5 PAX with just 200TW tires - no other mods. I have debated pulling the alignment pins but have not yet because I feel the car is already pretty twitchy at the front end during street driving - that being said I will most likely go ahead and do that this season to try and get to the top of PAX. I have also debated a rear bar but I have been able to get the car to rotate to my liking by adjusting rear tire pressures - again I will most likely end up doing this at some point as well for the same reason.

I run 255/35-19 RE-71RS on the stock wheels and have moved the PS4S tires to a set of stock DE5/Integra Type S wheels I got pretty cheap for daily driving (I really like the charcoal color of the DE5 wheels on my boost blue vs the black stock wheels).

Two events down and 1500 miles on the car. What a great dual-duty vehicle!

Anyone out there going to try the Vitour?

Hello, long time lurker, first time posting.

I started autocrossing for the first time last year. I owned an FK8 and currently own a 2023 FL5. I much prefer the FL5 over the FK8 for it's appearance and improved looks.

My goal for the year is to be in the top 3, overall in my group. Last year I ended up in the top 6 or so the last few events of the year. I have learned a bunch and still know that I have a bunch to go. Ride alongs and having someone else drive my car gave me a big wake-up call that I was not driving anywhere close to hard enough. Since then, I have read books and continue to practice as much as possible as I know that me, the driver, is the weakest link.

With all of that said, I do have a couple of questions on hardware. I bit the bullet and now own some 18" wheels with Bridgestone RE71RS.

1) I purchased a rear sway bar from RV6 last year. I ended up not installing it as I was able to get the car to be a bit tail happy by running +5 psi in the rear tires over the fronts. Any thoughts on if I should go ahead and install to provide additional tuning flexibility or more?

2) Data acquisition is a future next step for me. I have tried messing with LogR but haven't found it very useful. Has anyone else utilized LogR for AutoX with success? Another option could be Solo Storm.

Thanks.

DEFINITELY install the bar. Stiffening up the chassis will only help. I still run high rear pressures for rotation.

I've tried LogR but it just doesn't seem to work, even when I try to set the start line and manually start the datalog. Might just be user error though...perhaps someone else can chime in on their experience with it.

If that doesn't work, the most cost effective option would be to pick up an android tablet, SoloStorm, and a good GPS receiver.

I didn't install the rear sway last year as I was getting that I considered good rotation with just the tire pressure adjustment. I did loop the car at the end of last year which is the first time ever in a FWD car.

Here is the best guide that I have come across on the LogR. I have not tried this yet but there are steps and screens in here which I have not gotten to as of yet.

For data, solostorm is the gold standard. Even if you arent good at reading the actual data itself, being able to see video inbetween runs is very valuable.

I did go out and use LogR a bit last night. Without direct comparison from someone also running LogR, I am not sure if I can readily use the logs for improvement. I didn't spend enough time working with it yet. Online resources don't seem to be that great either. If anyone knows of any places they have seen good breakdowns on how to interpret and utilize the data I would appreciate it.

Investing in solo storm if we do have a capable system built in already isn't my first choice.

I don't see any tools to compare distance driven in LogR, so for autox I wouldn't really see it as being useful to help you go figure out how to go "faster".

^ this. Preloaded tracks it makes sense but when autocross is different every weekend, I just don't see how it can be useful.

I found a guy on Reddit making an IOS autocross data logger. I have downloaded the developer version he mentions and it looks pretty legit. According to him it will connect to a Racebox GPS unit - I don't have one so hard for me to try it out. Also, when I downloaded the developer version it said it expires in 85 days. His initial post was just a couple of weeks ago so not something supper old that never went any further.
