I still got the mikstore kit + the oem vent because of the fitment and the modifications that needed to be done to the kit doesn’t really fit the way it supposed to. I pay 273.12 for the kit and 141.47 for the oem parts but I bought couple of bolts and clips extra that I did not use. Because I look for the oem parts ant the part that diverts the air isn’t sold separately from the heat core or the part that is under there it was expensive. But all works perfectly for me and the shipping was fast for both mikstore I got it like on 3 days after I ordered and the JDM Yamamoto like 5 days after order.
It is unfortunate to need the extra $$ for good fitment, but the trim instructions weren't super clear (mikstore seems to update product/instructions continuously). I broke a clip or two and if I needed to reorder the vent panel, OEM might be a good choice. Mikstore did ship pretty quick though.

I would hope clips on the jdmyamato version are stronger, but mikstore also seems to use Honda OEM parts, so just less risk since it "fits" correctly. I broke clips in other places in this install too so take it with a grain of salt 😅

Overall as mentioned before, it is barely noticeable and it doesn't move, so I'm ok with how mine went. I did have to open up the console again to do shifter upgrades and really tried hard not to touch this back panel.

Question for those who have completed this project. Did you use the 2 piece or one piece duct from the front console to the rear? Of the individuals on this thread who have ordered JDM parts instead of or to supplement the mikstore kit it seems one went with the two piece duct and one with the one piece duct.

Does it matter which one we use? Does it matter according to the platform (Type R v. Si, etc)?

I just used the mikstore kit on my FL5. It used a new splitter at the front, a funnel shaped piece to connect it to a tube going back, a piece to go up to the new register, and a new rear console plate with register.

I'm not sure which other trims are different, sorry.
