11th Gen Honda Civic Possible to Replace Side Mirror Adjustment Button? IMG_2917

Just had to replace the trim around my steering wheel because it melted. Not impressed with the interior plastic quality.

Any idea how this happened? Could you have dropped something onto the switch? That thing is shattered. Concerning for sure

Pics of the trim around the steering wheel?

Also do you use lotion/sunscreen? That can eat plastic and make it brittle/melt

no idea. it's just brittle. it all came off as one piece. still works fine. I think it's just a shitty mold.

Guess the sun or heat damaged the trim around my steering wheel too. which is strange because I use a sun shade and have ceramic tint. I don't use any lotions or anything like that. Only dedicated interior detailing products.

I don't think it's the sun, your car is very new too. I would think a chemical reaction of some kind. Mention the products you use for the interior, maybe we'll find a clue?

some plastic molds are just brittle. I just use Turtle Wax Interior Detailer. Only thing i can think of is maybe a microfiber got snagged on the edge when cleaning. but don't recall that happening.

Microfiber snagging on the switch sounds plausible, if extremely unlucky :(

Re: the steering wheel, Ive heard of sunlight being focused by windows/mirrors on someone else's car/house, glass/plastic containers, can be strong enough to melt plastic and burn fabric and start house fires (snowglobes on a windowsill specifically have caused house fires this way). Thats the only other thing I can think of that you got really unlucky where you parked near something. is it the plastic itself that's deformed or the piano black is peeling off the plastic?

I use detailing spray on all my trim all the time and havent noticed any issues

the plastic itself deformed. got the piece of trim replaced under warranty, but could hardly tell it deformed unless you looked very closely. i posted a pic in this thread.
