Next Civic Type R Spied Testing in Southern Europe

We just spied the hot Civic Type R testing in southern Europe, still wearing its heavy camouflage.

We can see the overall sportier look with a lower suspension, bigger wheels, Brembo brakes, large rear wing, aggressive body kit and 3 exhaust pipes out back.

Power will likely come from a 2.0 liter turbo charged inline 4 delivering some 320-340 hp connected to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Expect a debut in 2022.

Looks finally starting to grow on me. Im still not a fan of the taillights, but everything else looks promising so far...even with camo on. For some reason it looks AWD to me

I thought the same thing lol. I think it has to do with how low it looks like it's sitting in the rear. That last picture makes me think it's AWD even though we know it won't be.

If they decide to tone down the car just a bit, go to more sensible 19" wheels and solve the engine cooling/heat soak issues, I would definitely be a player for the 2022 Type R.

I hope it uses the same wheel spec as the previous gen. Im selling the R soon and may keep my TE37 limited run wheels just incase I decide to buy

One of them has Japanese emission labels, so I wonder that particular one is built and tested in Japan before moving to Europe?

Not sure, but the tire profile looks a tad larger - like 35 vs 30. If they shrink the wheels at all the size would need to adjust up of course.
I love the feel of the OEM 20's and am keeping them, but if Honda actually engineered it from scratch with 19's that would be okay, maybe better. The triple exhaust does a great job of eliminating drone, but putting a little of that snap crackle pop in there would help. If you really want to get me excited, Honda, find a way to reduce the turning radius. And heat soak.

The more I see this, the more I like it and am getting super excited for the actual reveal.

Def going to snag one if it's a great successor to the FK8 which is an absolutely phenomenal car.
