New to CTR - impressions log. What do I need to know?

I just got a new CTR last week and have already completed break in, with more than 600 miles on the car. I'm super impressed with the car and really enjoying it. Feels like a hot hatch designed by the Porsche GT division.

This is my first Honda, and my first Japanese car. All of my other cars have been German (Porsche, BMW, Merc/AMG) and a McLaren.

What are they key things I need to know about the CTR?

A few things I've observed so far:

- With the small gas tank and low gas mileage when driving the car spiritedly, the range is quite small. I've already been to the gas station four times.

- With the PS 4S tires, the handling of the car is sensitive to tire pressure. At and beyond the high 30s psi, the handling starts to go off. Does the car have tire pressure monitors which give the tire pressures?

- I don't find +R to be as stiff as some people say. For spirited driving, I'm mostly putting the car in +R. When the roads are particularly bad, I put the car in Individual, where I've put everything in the most aggressive setting other than suspension in sport or comfort and steering in sport.

- The car feels quite light - because it is!

- The car is quite fast, almost too fast for public roads. Almost ...

- Like everyone says, the seats and shifter are really good. I also like the interior, feels pretty premium to me.

- I have a suspicion that Honda doesn't make a profit on this car. At $47k, it seems underpriced considering the level of engineering and performance.

Great to hear you’re enjoying the car it is an awesome car.

* Potholes will be the bane of your existence.
* You think the tank is small now, wait until you take it in the track and you’re averaging 7-8mpg!
* The shift knob in the summer will cook your hand.
* You will get honked at and have many thumbs up while driving
* You will be egged on to race…multiple times
* Sound deadening is a cheap easy fix to improve your stereo

* You think the tank is small now, wait until you take it in the track and you’re averaging 7-8mpg! Yeah, I figure 1-2 sessions per tank. I'll track it just to try it, but expecting that other cars will be my primary track cars. I hear that the CTR tends to overheat on track?
* The shift knob in the summer will cook your hand. I've already noticed it feeling cold until the car warms up. What shift knob cover do you guys use?
* You will get honked at and have many thumbs up while driving I hope not! I got this car and went with white to avoid drawing attention.
* You will be egged on to race…multiple times I won't do it. Never.
* Sound deadening is a cheap easy fix to improve your stereo I don't mind the car being somewhat loud. I imagine they removed sound deadening to reduce weight. I wouldn't mind the engine being louder. Is there a volume setting for +R sound?

you have to change the flux capacitor every other oil change

Not that I was able to find. which is why I got an external TPMS (which also have tire/air temp), it is CCC (Cheap Chinese Crap) and not very accurate or precise. +/-2psi

agree, I stay away from any shift knobs with exposed metal, but I also did not like the feel/texture of the FL5 shift knob

I tried more than half a dozen knobs (from Amazon, so I could return them) till I found a wooden/walnut one that is not perfect, but just okay...

somehow the Razo grip shit knob (400g) I had in my '07 Si (FA5) and was perfect there, just did not feel right in the FL5

I have the HR short shifter in both.

I can already attest to these having had the car for 2 weeks. Got caught up in a race (not by choice), fill up the gas tank once a day, have been honked at incessantly

Great car though, I easily hit 100 on Mexican roads

Expect to hear a god awful scraping noise occasionally due to a rock being deposited between the front brake rotors and backing plates. Sometimes they free up quickly, other times I have to pull over somewhere that I can drive forward and reverse while turning the wheel back and forth until it comes out.

@Unity Performance offers an attractive and quality wooden knob. 4yrs and at least 75k miles , I’ve used it in my 10th gen Si coupe. Never hot never cold.

This is what I currently have as I wanted a heavy/weighted knob, though at 200g it is half the weight of the 400g Razo, yet three times the weight of the Unity Performance knob which weighs in at 60g

Ah yes, I did hear such a noise. Wasn't sure of the cause, and it went away. I think you're right about the cause.

It's there anything other than the sensors that need to be installed?

While the car is light and feels like it doesn't have a backseat when you're driving, it is a LONG car! Remember that when parallel parking as there are no back up sensors, just the camera. You can back up on the car behind you quite quickly!

The shifter does not like to be shifted quickly. It works best when you're methodical and patient with the shifts.

You will love driving this car every day. It's the last of something special. I will keep this car a long time.

I find that I can easily shift quickly, but I'm a little slower and more deliberate going from 4th to 5th, to avoid mis-shifting into 3rd.

Speaking of shifting, how tolerant is this engine to over-revs? Redline is 7k, but the 'red band' goes from 7k to 8k.

I would like to know too since I think I shifted a little too late today, first time, kinda scared, but the car didn't grind or even act different, it just bounced off redline when I didn't shift in time. Then when I did it again, it was fine.
