Who would have thought a Prius would have more power than a prelude.

The looks of the new prelude have really grown on me. Not necessarily a fan of the drivetrain, but I could see myself buying this as a commuter car for a mother in law or something 😁

I got cancelled on Facebook the other day for admiring it.
Drivetrain is ehh but maybe it will impress us in other areas? Maybe not.
Can't knock it until it's out and been tinkered with.

Yeah, it's not a bad looking car. I'm not the biggest fan of the lack of a manual transmission, but Honda still has the physical gears, so you at least feel shifts unlike a Prius or Toyota hybrids. Plus a lot of supercars have tried the hybrid approach and so has Honda, this just seems like their attempt at mass market nsx

On paper the drivetrain isn’t impressive, BUT power delivery is apparently very much like an EV. I don’t expect top speed to be amazing, but it should be quick from a full stop. Overall, I think it looks pretty good in pics…though the previous gen Prelude will always be šŸ‘Œ to me. I bet this thing looks much better in person, tho.

Also Facebook is like one of those traveling carnivals. It’s full of ā€œinterestingā€ people you’d normally avoid, but you go because friends and family are there.🤣

I predict first few months someone is gonna do a RWD R swap and show up to one of the big car shows.

I am excited to see the Type R version of this. (Or whatever they will call it)

I know a lot is up in the air right now due to japans new laws going into effect for 2026, but I wonder if this is Hondas planned replacement until they can get a Hybrid Civic Type R out in 2029 or 2030.

I know it’s all speculation, but having been a Honda enthusiast for a long time, I very very highly doubt they will make a Type R version of this car. I think this is simply Honda’s more fun answer to the Toyota Prius. A little less utility, but the sporty/fun factor is turned up a little. That said, I could see them doing an Si or a Type SH version with added sporty bits (aero + wheels), red stitching, better suspension, and a modest power bump (or maybe an Si/SH drive mode).

I'm finding the new Prelude a lot more appealing than I expected. The simulated 8 speed gearbox shifts in S+ mode are really engaging according to the previews. The way it bumps you on each upshift reminds me a bit of the Ioniq N's personality. The brake setup seems to be pretty serious if not identical to the CTR.

Also, the fact that they're using the CTR's dual axis front suspension also indicates they're really going for good handling and steering feel.
