I used compressed air from a can to get dust off. Worked pretty well, but I see some very minor haze or whatever when a light source shines directly on it that makes me REALLY want to wipe but I know better. I also ordered the protector but haven’t installed because it does seem like a PIA. I’ll get around to it one day…

I would like to know, but I don't believe it's possible. You can use the most plush microfiber cloth available and it will scratch. You can even lubricate a microfiber cloth well or the cluster itself, and it will still scratch. Compressed air works well until you actually have to wipe the cluster. That material is just tricky to work with.

Like many of us, I'm disappointed with how easy the cluster lens scratches. I'd asked a dealership a few months ago about replacing the lens only, but they believed it would require the whole instrument cluster to be replaced and that the lens wasn't a separate item that could be purchased.

Anyone have experience with this or know where I could find the guide on how to get access to the cluster?
The instrument cluster is a bit of a pain. Space is a little tight, and I did have some bubbles around the edges after install but they went away. I just worked them out whenever I saw them, and after a few days the film stayed down. The instrument cluster is also oversized slightly for ease of installation.
To prevent it from scratching going forward you'll need to A) place film on it; or B) ceramic coat it. The downside to all of this is you have to take a portion the dash apart (see photo). Unfortunately, I don't have an installation guide.

I just performed the replacement install on the DE5. Bumping this thread and sharing a quick guide:

Hope this helps, steps should be very similar for CTR/ITS

I stumbled onto Screen ProTech when I was looking for screen protector reviews on YouTube. Overall very happy with the product. It has hidden all the scratches I had on my instrument cluster. They offer the option of "insurance" when purchasing which is just adding in a spare in case you mess up on the install.

This is more expensive than buying a lens replacement. It also includes a protector for the infotainment. The upside is, this doesn't scratch once applied. Atleast I haven't managed to scratch mine when cleaning it yet.
Glad this thread was bumped. Got the car Saturday and just ordered this film, thanks for sharing! 👍🏻

New lenses are about $12 but you can prob get them cheaper, and the part number is 78156-T21-A01 if you guys need them from Honda.

Specifically, in Azkyrie's guide the center trim is removed, I presume this needs to be done on the ITS?

I have an annoying buzz in the dash (I believe it's behind the speedo) I'm trying to fix. It happens at around 2,000-2300 RPM. I'm guessing there is no other way to get behind there without taking out the cluster?

You might want to try taking off the bezel around the cluster first to see if it can be removed without taking apart half the dash.

It is not too bad to remove the cluster to replace lens -

1.) Disconnect battery from car.
2.) Remove lower dash panel with the (Honda Sense button and dimmer switch)
3.) Remove left vent trim
4.) Partially remove large righgt side vent, (if you can get it off partially around the puesh-start module), if not remove entire vent
5.) remove cluster bezel surround, make sure to unclip the steering wheel cloth material that hides the steering wheel cowl gap
6.) Now you can remove the cluster

Interesting thread. The minute you touch the glass, even with the Rag Company 850 gsm towels (brand new) you will instill some scratches. A lot depends on the light coming in. It is good to know that this can be replaced. Not that easy, but it can be done. The best thing to do is not touch the glass and use compressed air from far away to clear out some of the dust.

Honda builds great vehicles, but it is these little things that save them money and is put back into the design, engineering, etc.

The compressed air is a solid approach; however, you will eventually need to contact the lens with a cloth. It may not happen immediately, but there will be a time when it needs a wipe as a film will eventually form on the surface.

Yes, which will lead to micro-scratches. No way around this one. I have used pledge on a new Cobra MF Towel from Auto Geek and that works well. Do not spray directly though, on cloth and pat lightly and allow to dry. Kind of like a coating, but when you go back with a window cleaner it kind of smears.

If it bothers someone that much, years later a must to replace.

Even though I purchased the lens (like $14), the probability of me going after this is slim to none unless I can find someone to take this apart for under $100 in labor.

I have allowed the dust to settle on the glass and not touch it, making the scratches not visible. I guess the rough winter in NJ makes it easier as the car is now full of salt, dirty, and hard to wash by hand until the weather hits the 40s again. Roads are bad so not even worth touching.
