The FL5 does not come with a spare tire -- instead it comes with a fix-a-flat kit that many find undesirable. Scouring these forums there are several messages of FL5 owners hopeful that Honda would release an official FL5 spare tire kit. There are many alternatives to retro-fitting a spare tire kit into the FL5, including the Acura RL spare tire, a slim-profile BMW spare tire, and several others. There actually is an official spare tire kit for the FL5 in select countries but importing these parts would cost us nearly $1,000 USD.
Personally, I wanted to find Honda products that would fit like factory with little to no modification and at a somewhat reasonable cost.
This guide will walk you through installing the FK8 spare tire kit into the FL5.
---
The finished product:
You might notice some cut seams -- those exist because I initially didn't think things would fit so I cut some pieces but they're now duct-taped back together
Fitment is perfect:
Note: The spare tire kit comes with a jack, wheel removal tools, and a styrofoam tool holder but that last piece prevents the floor from sitting flush so I am not using that piece and just sticking the individual parts on the floor as you can see in the following photo. The little bag sitting in the wheel well is a compact air compressor from Harbor Freight.

Parts list:
06421-TGH-A33ZA -- FK8 spare tire kit (does not include tire). Lowest price I could find is $221.47.
42751-CTL-039 -- Continental tire that fits on the wheel in the kit above. Lowest price I could find is $127.53.
Total: $349.00
Note: As the tire itself comes as a separate part, it is not installed on the wheel, which is part of the spare tire kit. You will need to have this installed. My local Honda dealer initially quoted $25 but ended up doing it for free. Your mileage may vary.

Tools required:
Plastic pry tool, small-- you can use a flathead but you may damage some of the interior plastics.
Philips screwdriver
---
Time required:
15 minutes
---
Steps:
First we have to prepare the new floor to fit. There are four rubber posts that need to be removed from the underside of the FK8 floor. These are incredibly difficult to remove as they are held on by some strong epoxy -- I used an Exacto knife.
Open your rear passenger doors and fold the seat backs down. Locate the two metal tie down points:
Flip up the metal portion, then use your pry tool to pry up the inside plastic piece. There are tiny indentations you can insert the pry tool into as shown in the photo below:
After prying that up, use a Philips screwdriver and remove the screw within.
You can then remove the tie down piece by gently pulling up. Repeat on the other side, then set these pieces aside as they will be reused later.
The entire carpeted trunk floor assembly can simply be removed. Set aside -- this floor will not be reused.
Place the FK8 floor and perform the steps above in reverse. It's really that simple!
