Curious how many sessions and/or track days you're getting out of your 200tw tires? Specifically the fronts. I have been using Yokohama AO52's and can barely squeeze out 2 track days (10-12 sessions) with them. I know there's lots of factors that play into this but without getting into the details I was just looking for high level experiences from people who frequent the track.

Sounds about right, 2-3 weekends, depending on what 200tw tire you use.

Every now and then I'm reminded just how insanely expensive this hobby is...

High-grip 200TW tires like the Yokohama A052 can significantly accelerate performance progression by offering superior traction and steering response. On an FL5 Civic Type R at Buttonwillow, the A052 typically lasts around 2–3 track days, while the RE-71RS offers slightly better longevity at approximately 3–4 days, depending on factors such as driving style, alignment, and ambient temperatures. Based on my experience, the Kumho V730 lasted 5 track days across a mix of Streets of Willow and Big Willow. I’ve recently switched to the RE-71RS and expect a lifespan of around 4 track days. For a more budget-friendly approach, the Federal RS-Pro (5–6 days) and Hankook RS4 (6–8 days) provide a good balance of grip and durability though the RS4, while consistent and long-lasting, will inevitably come at the cost of outright lap time.

At your insane grip and pace that sounds about right. I'm running a used set of A052 (a couple sessions and some AutoX before I got them - they were on a set of wheels I grabbed) on stock suspension without aero -- and I mean, tread depth is fully gone after 6 sessions, and I rotated them opposite corners after 3. I'd expect another 2-3 TA-style sessions for them to be toast.

I'm giving the P1's a shot this weekend (if it's dry) -- apparently, they can be as fast and wear better -- I'll keep you posted on how that goes. I need to see if the hype is for real or not.

I have to say though -- the Yokes are the best feeling tires I've run on this thing yet.

Slow tires last forever though -- SC3 took a serious beating, and I don't think ECF die.

It depend on also how long your session are. I do notice in general after that initial warm up lap you get maybe 2-3 good laps and after it start falling off. After that maybe you can craft your skill but the car just start killing itself, increase temp, tire start chunking off, and brakes overheated.

I got one track day out of a brand new set of OEM PS4 tires. The driver front chunked off the outside edges.

How do the recommended tires in this thread compare in terms of performance? The durability looks to be better of course.

Here's a slightly outdated cheat sheet that could be helpful for many - I don't know where it's from, but the data seems pretty true-to-life based on the collective experience of my local track friends here in SoCal

That's from GRM. They do actual instrumented testing, so its objective and subjective feedback making that chart. there is an updated version of it on the guide. Grassroots Motorsports ultimate track tire guide | Articles | Grassroots Motorsports

You need more camber, at least -3 to -3.5 degree range, otherwise you will chunk the outside edge of any tire.

I love the A052's they gave me the best feeling, they lasted about 5ish track days on the 6th track day first session out they delaminated.

I have since gone to the RE71RS, they are a faster tire. However, I think that's more to due with the consistency they provide. With the RE71RS I'm better able to build up to my best lap-times. They currently have three track days on them. Hoping to get two more out of them.

I will be switching to the Nankang CRS V2 next.

I had looked at this chart and wondered how well it applies to FWD setups like the FL5.

Example: I found that on my Lotus Evora, PS4S tires lasted much longer than Cup 2. The chart says AAA for the PS4S and A for the Cup 2 so it matches my experience.

On the FL5 the PS4S survived for one track day on the one tire. Negative camber is needed for sure, but is the softer sidewall of the PS4S partly to blame here? Would it receive the same wear rating with the unique demands of FWD?
