I have been wondering for a while, and a recent road trip confirmed my observation.

Is it just me or I find the FL5 came with headlight aimed too low? I have a hard time seeing far enough when the road is pitch black.
The high beam will let me see farther, but not much better. If there is a small bush of tree about as tall as the stock lip on the freeway in the dark, it is very difficult to dodge it.

One of my biggest gripes with the DE5 as well. The cutoff is way too abrupt and our eyes simply cannot adjust to that difference in luminosity. At a minimum, a squirrel-finder feature would have been great. We just have poorly designed lights in my opinion.

Honestly I don’t think I’ve ever noticed. Probably because it’s always on auto and the car automatically turns high beam on and off if there are no cars in front.

I find the aim on my car great. On my M240i I was always having to keep the high beams on. So in comparison I have been happy with the headlights on my CTR.

Funny you mention that because I had the exact opposite experience with my M2C lol. Those headlights were absolutely superb because of the adaptive function and made even better after VLD coding. I rarely had to use the high beams on the BMW.

I had an '24 M240 xdrive. Other than the engine, there wasn't much I liked about that car. She was super heavy, dead steering, brakes offered no feedback and that was with the wheel and tire package. Overall, I have been happy with FL5. Not as fast as the M240i, but far more fun to drive. The CTR reminds me of my old '04 6-spd manual BMW 330i with the ZHP package. Very driver focused.

FL5 headlights have an adjustment screw on the backside. The sharp cutoff makes it easy to move the pattern accurately using just a yard stick. Tape a piece of paper over the opposite side light when adjusting.

I've found the headlights excellent, and I live in a very dark desert area. I have not made adjustments on the FL5.
