How can you get the FL5 to leave hard in first gear with out wheel hopping?

.... will stiffer motor mounts help?

Anything else? Traction control on or off? Tire pressure adjustments or different compound tires other than the factory Michellins? Mine seems to hop no matter what.

The mod people do the most to reduce wheel hopping is the rear motor mount. Almost unanimous that it will help with that significantly.

I don't have an issue with my DE5. Stock aside from Apex VS-5RS wheels, but I didn't really notice much difference after swapping wheels. Traction control completely off (via pedal dance, but don't think that's necessary on the FL5). It hooks up pretty well after 60+ autocross take-offs. Hops occasionally but nothing overly dramatic.

That said, I'm also usually not WOT after launch because it's not drag racing. That might be your problem right there.

You need a RMM to prevent it. I believe the PRL RMM is the most daily friendly, the other options from HaSport and 27won are more stiff but have even less wheel hop I believe. The RMM improved shifter feel and 1-2 shifts.

In my experience, even with a RMM, there is still wheel hop.

It is.... it's hard to leave the line like a grandma, otherwise it will hop like crazy. I guess I won't drag race it any more. Best time was a 13.79/104.5 I might look into a rear motor mount just for kicks. THanks.

Thanks, I'll do a little research on those brands.

The rear mount helps a bunch. But the big wheels coupled with the soft engine mounts is still a recipe for wheel hop. Last time at the track it was wheel hopping in 1st and 2nd so had to kill power.

Owning this car without a less compliant RMM is doing yourself a disservice. Install a PRL unit and enjoy.

Or you could enjoy being one of the fastest cars on the corners and twisty roads.
Running 13's and beating on it I can't imagine is all that fun lol
