Heads Up Display Possible?

Hey guys, I am new to the FL5 platform (picked up mine about 2 weeks ago), and am personally quite uneducated on car electronics, and so I thought I'd ask the forums. I am wondering if anyone has seen a HUD install/knows if a HUD install is possible on the FL5; I saw the HUD on the ITS and was wondering due to the similarities of the platform if an aftermarket install was possible.

I apologize if this seems like a dumb question, just thought I would ask as I have not seen anything about this personally on the FL5 and do not know the ins and outs of electronic installs of the sorts.

So, would it be possible? Could be... but would it be worth doing? Almost certainly not.

I'm no expert in electronics, but what little I do know would suggest that the entire dash and display (possibly windshield? honestly don't know) are specific to each car, and there's a software component as well. So from a "swap out" perspective, we're talking physical dash components (possibly windshield), wiring harness, and software... sounds like a whole lot of cost and effort for one feature.

Also I should mention that there's a thread on the Integra forums where people want to install the gauge cluster from the Type R. So the cool R+ mode gauge would likely have to go if you were to look into this as well.

The one possibility that might possibly be worth exploring would be actually modify the dash in the civic (i.e., cut) to install the HUD components from an ITS, splice in the wiring and then modify the software to allow for the HUD to read all the data it needs to display and for you to interact with it. That's where you're gonna need someone who's familiar with all that to weigh in... and I don't know who that would be. But that's the only way I'd ever consider it, because then you'd get the "best of both worlds" with the Type R dash and the HUD from the Type S. But... there's just so much involved for a net gain of an arguably gimmicky feature.

Possibly someone could fabricate some aftermarket approach, but again- I wouldn't even know where to start. Slapping some silly screen on the dash that reflected off the windshield could potentially work, but that feels like a pretty cheap approach and would have to be executed really well to have any lasting appeal.

Figured I'd at least weigh in and rain on your parade.

About what I expected to be honest, it's unfortunate but not a big deal at all for me. I appreciate the insight and definitely agree that any amount of work close to what you explained would certainly not be worth the time, money, and headache of labor just for a HUD.

I know this post is a couple of weeks old but another option is an aftermarket HUD. They plug into the OBD II port. It just won't look integrated and sits on the dash but are usually pretty thin.

I had one for my F150 and worked fine. I thought there was a little delay in showing the actual speed but could be due to the cheap model I purchased.
