$47,000 MSRP/destination + 25% tariff ($11,750) = $58,750

+ tax/tag/title

in Florida with 7% tax ($4,200) would put the type r in the $63,000 area with no trade in.
Now factor in the dealer markups 😉

I’m no market analyst, but what will probably happen is new cars (sitting on the lots now) will be marked up to match the tariff-affected cars coming onto the lots soon.

THEN, because new cars will be so expensive, it’s going to inflate the demand and prices of used cars for awhile. So we may see (another) period of people bankrolling on their used vehicles until manufacturers figure all this out…and it won’t happen quickly.

You damn well know the dealership is gonna add a markup! Lol

Glad we got our CTR at the perfect time!

Screws me if it happens, cause we need to buy two vehicles when we moved back to the US in July.

The tariffs, which the White House expects to raise $100 billion in revenue annually,

THis is funny. How many cars are going to sell with a 25% tariff? Zero. So it will raise $0 in revenue annually. But it'll cause a hell of a recession, which will tank revenue. Trump knows this of course. Watch his hands, not his lips.

That’s the thing, exactly as the article points out : This really hurts the buying power of the low and middle class. Upper class may feel it somewhat, but it won’t stop them from buying things they want. In fact, I was listening to NPR yesterday and they said this exact thing (not verbatim) : The economy has been shaky at best, especially with all these sudden changes. Many people have been pulling back on spending since this past January, EXCEPT for the wealthy. They’re spending as normal. There are a lot of political things to be said of all this (some of it is really ironic), but I’ll refrain. There are better forums for political talk. 😇

Basically, y’all holding out for the perfect deal on a new FL5, I wouldn’t blame you if you make some concessions and jump on a good deal (while they exist).

If the vehicle is already in the US, I believe no Tarrifs are applied. Seems inventory on dealer lots will go quick if this is the case.

Only two cars are considered to be made completely in America the Honda ridge line and the Tesla model 3. Everything else is subject to tariffs
