At this point $5k markup is what every dealer seems to be asking for and not getting. I've gotten anything from 2.5k(Bullshit dealer protection packages) to 3k pure adm without trying too hard. Hold out for MSRP. At this point I'm sick of salesmen trying to feed me bullshit about how it's a race car, how exclusive and limited the car. They claim they will only get 1-2 a year when they're getting 2 this month already. Don't get suckered by any of it.
My experience as well. I have had several dealers in the past month or two incessantly calling/texting me about 3-5k ADMs and most have not sold despite all the lines salespeople are giving me about exclusivity. The only one that sold relatively quickly was MSRP up in WI, and even that took a full day or two of them shotgun emailing tons of people to sell it, which tells me that even many MSRP buyers are not actually ready to commit. My interest in this car has cooled enough that I'm basically waiting for MSRP from a local dealer. Any car that requires me to fly out to or ship it, even at MSRP, isn't compelling enough anymore.

If interest rates go down anytime soon like they are planning I expect ADM to climb on up again. It’s also the middle of winter…

This is probably your most likely chance to get low ADM or MSRP for the foreseeable future. Keep in mind MSRP is not set for the entire year. Honda could decide to raise it another $500-$1000 in a couple months like they did shortly after launch.

Rates are pretty awful right now 6-7% if you have the best credit. I'm sure most people buying these cars can't afford to pay straight up cash. So if you do end up paying 50k for a Civic Type R, put a 10k down payment and finance it at 6% for 5 years you end up paying almost $6400 in interest and a total of almost 64k for the car. Let that sink in....

This would apply to anyone buying a 50k car that would end up costing them $60k after taxes, interest after a 10k down payment. Still not stopping people from buying trucks, and SUVs.

Example: Financing 44k for 60mo at 6% is roughly $7000 in interest

Now lets say if rates were good at 4% it would be $4600. So were talking about a $2400 difference. Yes, its a good amount. Worse case scenario, refinance when rates drop.

Agreed. I'm in the same boat. Plenty of MSRP deals closer to the East Coast it seems but the hassle just isn't worth it for me at the moment. Will sit tight for deals closer to MSRP in Cali for now...

I’ve talked to a few Cali folks who are buying FL5s for MSRP from the east coast (NJ) and having them shipped here for ~$1400. Still comes out cheaper than most markups here, but having to go through that hassle for a brand new $50k+ car after tax/title/licensing still rubs me the wrong way… especially when dealerships here will sit on inventory for months.

I don’t know what Cali taxes are but I know doc fees are different per state. If you get msrp and depending on taxes I don’t think it should hit 50k+

An easy calculation to make for California is to add 12% to the car’s sale price for taxes, title, and licensing (I’ve confirmed the 12% figure with the last few cars we’ve bought from dealerships here in SoCal). At $46k MSRP that puts the Type R at about $52k out the door.

If anyone wants a boost blue and lives in Ohio. VOSS Honda has one for msrp. No add ons or anything, but you have to be in state.

My salesperson let me know they have a '24 Boost Blue available at Auto Nation Honda in Denver, CO. Ask for Trent if you're interested.

Do you have a price? Is there ADM via forced add-ons or otherwise? Will they sell out of state?
