Greetings from Spain:

From what we've seen, the recall procedure for FL5s here is different from the one in the USA.
In our case, the entire steering box is being replaced. I'm uploading images of the part being replaced.

Naturally, this means removing the subframe and finally aligning the steering.

However, for FL4s (Hybrid), the procedure is the same as in the US.

Regards

American Honda being cheap. Way more Type R here maybe?

This is not just a type R problem though.

For the FL4 hybrid, which is the only other model sold here, in Spain and rest EDM, the solution is the same as in the USA: inject more pink grease into the helical assembly and replace the small spring inserted into it.

I wonder if newer (post recall, September 2024 and up) manufactured FL5 have the pink grease and spring at the factory? or if they used the new part...

i.e. when did the factory started using the new part?

Is there anyway to find out which part number is installed on my FL5 (manufactured 12/24)?

My car was also manufactured in 12/2024.
I put my VIN into a couple of recall checkers. It came back clean.
That SHOULD mean it doesn't need the recall.

however, there could be two reasons for "doesn't need the recall", already fixed before sold. or never needed it in the first place (i.e. the newer rack was installed at the factory)

way back in September and October, I looked up several VIN numbers for new cars that were in dealer inventory (2024 and 2025 model years), they all came clean, even the 2024 model year.

what I found out was that cars that were fixed at the dealership before being sold will come back clean

i.e. no recall since it was fixed before sold

which is why I delayed my FL5 purchase... but did I delay it long enough?

so my question still stands: were our cars "fixed before sold" (possibly at the factory), or did they have the "new and improved" steering rack installed at the factory?

takes an hour.
Did you tell em you wanna wait? My dealer has times for people who wait and times for people who drop car and leaves. Waiting will take longer to get an appointment.
