Thinking about getting the Tomei Type R but would like to hear pros and cons from anyone who may currently have one on their vehicle or have had one. Thanks.

I have it. If you like a louder exhaust its fine. Single exit originally I thought was weird, but it looks fine to me. I had the AWE track and HKS before this one. Volume wise it's about the same as AWE, definitely louder than HKS.

I just got mine two nights ago in the same color. Love this color. Glad to see what it would look like on my vehicle basically. I will probably end up getting this. What did you end up doing with the exhaust valve?

The actual valve motor is in my garage somewhere. On the car you can ziptie the connection up out of the way and put a cap in the connector.

I had both Type D and Type R on my car. Both droned like hell around 3k RPM range. Surprisingly enough, Type D droned more than the Type R. You would image the Type R would be louder / drone more since it's one big fat single pipe with no muffler, but no.

I did everything I could to not stay in the RPM range where it would drone, but me having to do that was annoying, I'd have to drive the car very hard or very soft to not be in that range rpm range... I'd get some pops / burbles here and there though.

Did sound good, was just too loud for me. I settled with Fujitsubo.

This is a Loud exhaust setup, my buddy had this exhaust on his FK8 with a catless downpipe. Obnoxiously loud!

Does the tomei catbacks come with a cap/cover for the valve connector?

I have it on my car it's not so loud on the inside cabin . But I'm running right now stock front pipe and stock downpipe. Really lightweight compared to the oem and easy to Install. Love it so far.

I had the tomei before for my other car and it was loud and drone. At the track it was great but I live in California and I got a ref ticket within a month of owning it.

The Fujitsubo is a gorgeous exhaust system. How do you like it? How’s it sound?
