Hey Everyone,

If you're planning to send out your ECU for Jailbreaking, follow these steps to ensure it arrives safely and undamaged.

Materials You'll Need

  • Anti-Static Bag (10" x 14") – Protects the ECU from static damage. Available on Amazon or Local Stores.
  • Sturdy Shipping Box (10" x 10" x 9" Double Wall Corrugated Box) – Provides solid protection during transit.
  • Packing Material – Use shredded printer paper, crumpled brown paper, or similar for cushioning.
  • Packing Tape – Secures the box and protects the label.
  • Shipping Label – Choose a shipping service that offers insurance and signature confirmation.
I personally have always used UPS for this process!

Step-by-Step Packing Guide

Step 1
: Prepare the ECU

Place your ECU inside the anti-static bag to prevent static electricity damage.

Step 2: Pack the Box

Fill the bottom of your shipping box with a generous layer of padding.

Place the ECU (inside the anti-static bag) in the center of the box.

Add more padding around and on top of the ECU to prevent movement.

Step 3: Secure the Box

Close the box and lightly shake it to check for movement.

If the ECU shifts, add more padding until it stays firmly in place.

Step 4: Seal & Label

Tape the box securely on all seams.

Attach the shipping label, then tape over it to protect label against water damage.

If done properly following these steps your box should weight around 2.16 pounds or 1.34 kilograms but please make sure to check your final box weight and size prior to creating shipping label.

The OEM ECU is approximately 2lbs.

Step 5: Choose a Reliable Shipping Method

Use a shipping carrier that offers insurance ($1,000-$1,200 recommended per FK8/FL5 ECU and $500 for DE5 ECU) and select signature confirmation upon delivery for confirmation of delivery.

Websites like Shippo.com can help you find the best shipping rates and even generate a return label if needed.

By following these steps, you'll minimize the risk of damage and ensure your ECU reaches its destination safely.

I’ve had great experiences using PirateShip.com to ship car parts as an another alternative for discounted shipping labels, with options for insurance.
