IMO. Price matching policy is always up to the vendor. Some big outlets (Amazon) price match on automatic data analysis and per CSR judgement based on policy (hit or miss). Sometimes this can mean price matching is before shipping. Shipping is always factored into long term total price/profit, whether you think or not.
Smaller shops always need to navigate this carefully because it is impossible to do everything (including returns) the way big outlets do. In return you get customer service, an actual person to discuss your needs with, and a curated selection. If you don't value that, then okay.
The only place to argue is if a vendor is inconsistent. Otherwise if you're complaining - publically - that they won't lower their price to what you want it to be, then I hope you get the opinions you are looking for.
