I got my Mishimoto PCV Catch can today direct from Mishimoto. I ended up getting it for a good price, $208 with free shipping.

Quick install and looks OEM+. I have a lot of domestic GM cars and trucks and normally I like to use Elite engineering catch cans but I didn't want to build a universal kit, when this mishi one already exists.

Overall, I'm really satisfied with the quality and fit and finish for the price. Radium had a little to much going on with the swivel fittings and I wanted the simplicity of barb fittings.

I agree.

I installed mine a year ago. The 1st oil change (5K miles) netted 2-3 tablespoons of factory oil in the catch can. Better in the can than through the intake valves. I'm just over 7K miles, so no update with 5W30 oil.

I've heard the k20c1 is pretty good on oil consumption through the PCV system, so I'm not expecting a ton on my next oil change.

My l83 direct injected 5.3 liter would catch close to half a quart between oil changes. Given it had 170k on it. I feel like the catch can is what helped it get to that mileage without any type of intake valve cleaning needed.

The catch can is an insurance policy. It would be a bear cleaning valves with our rear mounted intake manifolds.

I've cleaned motorcycle intake valves before and it wasn't easy, even with a direct line of sight. Those build-ups were from old fuel and another from a leaky injector.

Glad to see people giving feedback about catch cans. I'm new to these myself, about to install one on my Si. Inlet to the can comes from the valve cover, and outlet goes to intake?

You got it, it acts as a intermediary to catch any oil that may come through the system between the PCV valve (normally in the valve cover or valley cover) and the intake manifold or intake system.

In non boosted or port injection engines, oil consumption via the PCV isn't a huge deal if a breather system is working well.

Boosted and especially Direct Injected (DI) engine it is important to stop as much oil consumption as possible into the intake tract. The fuel is never spraying on the back of the intake valves like it does on a port injection system. With no fuel wash and oil consumption in the intake tract you have the propensity for carbon build up on the back of the intake valves.

As AZCWTypeR stated, catch can are just cheap insurance IMO. Worst case it doesnt cath much if any oil because the system doesn't have much or any oil coming through it.

For me, if it's true that a lot of the fluid is actually condensation (Id be curious for anyone who has a CC to do an oil analysis next time they empty it) driving in the winter in WI would make me not want to get one installed.

I have catch cans on my GT350 becuase its suggested in the owners manual.

I really dont want to install these on my FL5 because Im lazy and Ive heard mixed results.
