After driving my ‘06 Toyota Tundra for nearly 18 years, I found out that it needed repairs that would be more than it was worth.
We had just sold a house, I got a promotion, and had my 54th birthday last week, so I decided to trade it in on something a little more fun.
Picked up a ‘24 Championship White FL5. Talked the dealer down to a little over $5k markup and they had added another $2k in add-on for window tint, splash guards, Type R hatch liner, and, of course, nitrogen in the tires.
Didn’t feel like arguing over the price as I needed to get the truck gone before something $$$ broke on it. With what I knew was wrong with the truck, I was fine w/ what they offered for trade in. I was a little concerned about the $, but my wife was super supportive and said I deserved the car.
For a long time, I’d wanted a Corvette, but was disappointed when they ripped the soul out of them by removing the manual transmission with the C8. The C7s are falling behind on the technology front and prices for C7s have actually gone up since the C8 came out. I’m also not a big fan of New Balance shoes.
I’m pretty sure I’ll be happier with this car than the Vette. It seems like it will be a great daily driver. I’m glad to be back in a manual after so long. I also still have several more months where I need to tote around my wife and daughter before daughter heads off to college this fall.
