I'm curious to hear what folks on here do for their on-track tire rotations. I typically like to rotate my tires (front to back) around mid-day when doing trackdays so I get somewhat even tire wear. On my previous car (Focus RS), I installed some aftermarket jacking rails which allowed me to jack it up completely on one side. This made it super easy to swap the tires front to back.

On the other hand, I've found that jacking up our cars can be a bit of a pain, particularly that front jacking point. In my garage, I usually drive up some wood ramps I've made to get me a couple of inches clearance for the front jacking point. I can then stuff jack stands up front, jack up the rear, then stuff jack stands for the rear. It's already somewhat of a pain on my comfy garage floor, so I'd really rather not have to do all this when on a hot tarmac parking lot in the middle of a track day.

So, does anybody have any other jacking methods they like to do out on the track?

If just doing front to back, you can use the front side jack point and the whole side of the car will raise enough to swap a side of tires front/back.

If doing L/R rotation, you would need ramps or the 2-jack method to put the car on 4 jack stands.

Thanks for the reply. Ya, out of curiosity, I went ahead and tried to jack the car up using the front pinch weld during my lunch break and found the same thing you had mentioned. Shouldn't be too surprised considering I almost always end up lifting one of the rear tires when going up/down my steep driveway lol

If I do it, which is dependent on track and if multi day, I usually just go front to back.

How did you setup wood ramps? Id bought some race ramps but they are actually really big and would rather use something alot smaller

When I plan to do full cross rotations at the track I use these Megan Racing ramps I got off Amazon. A pair of ramps break down to 4pcs. for easy storage.

I actually came up with a "track"/"portable" ramp set-up that I'll be trying out in a couple of weeks. It's a 3-layer 3ft length stack of 2x4's with bevels cut on the end. Driving my front wheel up gives me 6" of clearance to squeeze my aluminum racing jack under to reach the front jacking point.

Looks something like this but shorter and narrower.
