I’m hearing from a few U.K. owners the tank is not 47 litres, wondering if anyone else has tested the capacity?

Seems the small tank just got smaller…

Who cares.

Edit: nobody cares
I care, it means I have to go fill up during track days and more stops on roads trips. We don’t all live your life.

i know there is a ‘refuel recommended’ setting in the system menu, so wondered if this had anything to do with the fuel indicator.

Thanks for your helpful comment nonetheless…

The "refuel recommended" setting just affect whether infotainment will notify you to refuel. You still have the low fuel light on the instrument cluster, which is what you should go by and usually have about 2 gallons to go when it is lit.

It appears that you are misinformed. The refuel notification from the infotainment should come sooner than the low fuel light, not the UK spec somehow has a slightly smaller tank than the rest of the world.

I don't think he was saying we have a smaller tank than the rest of the world.

I've also heard reports it's a very small tank - bit of an inconvenience certainly, but I guess we'll have to live with it.

When it shows I have 20 miles left it take 10 gallons to completely fill. Tank is tiny.

FK8 and FL5 fuel tank size is essentially the same. 12.7 US Gallons/47 Liters is on the small side for the K20C1, but it is appropriate for the other engine options (the 2.0L/1.5T 180hp and 200hp).

Rule of thumb is the low fuel light will be lit when there is about 2 US Gallons left in the tank. Cars may have the light lit with less or more fuel (I heard the 2nd Gen USDM Honda Fit is 3 gallons). If you rely on the Range/Distance-to-Empty number, that mostly depend on your driving (there are other factors as well) and does not mean the car will immediately stop running when it reaches zero. Some exception may apply.

Being on the last bar with a Range of 5 miles, I got 10.261 US Gallons/39.786 Liters. Nothing unusual here. You should see the low fuel light at some point when there are 2 out of 10 bars.

So we have two notifications at different intervals to refill our gas? That seems unnecessarily redundant..

The tank is about 12.5 gallons. Honda is conservative with thier warnings to prevent people from running it completely empty. Usually when the range hits 0 you still have about another 20 miles available, but it depends on car and MPG.

Thanks for the feedback. Comment from a U.K. owner was suggesting that they ran it until <10 miles of range and got about 36 litres in.

Their assumption was that 46 litres must be a typo, but judging from the feedback on here, Honda are just conservative with their warnings.

Worth nothing the standard hybrid Civic has a 40 litre tank...

It's funny, Honda managed to fit my S2000 with a larger 13.2-gallon gas tank capacity, yet our new Civics dwarf that tiny roadster in size lol.

This said it better than I could. Think Bout this: your reserve when the light comes on is 15% of your capacity. It's not a mechanical complaint. It's. Programming complaint.
