Quick little write-up for you guys! I just got my S3 suspension coilovers installed. After driving a couple hundred miles already, here are my thoughts:
The ride is excellent. A little on the stiffer side. They have 10k front/12k rear swift springs, so it’s expected. I would say it is close to R mode but WAY less bouncy. I originally had Eibach SportLines with DE5 ADS. Absorbs road imperfections nicely. Out of 32 dampening clicks, I settled on 12 from soft in front and 14 for rears.
Now, why the switch? I never got out of comfort mode. The ride was just too inconsistent on springs. That’s why I also didn’t care to keep the modes, as I feel a quality set of coilovers will always beat OEM suspension and lowering springs. I also was never a lowering spring guy and preferred coilovers, but I got a hookup from a friend at Eibach when I first got the car.
Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of them because my local shop picked them up for me and had them installed since I was busy, but their quality is excellent. At around $1800, with swift springs, front camber plates, and tein cancellors, it’s hard to beat. They're built and tested here locally to me in Fullerton, Ca, which is nice. They're very popular with the SoCal track guys. I've also seen a good amount of FL5 guys on them but haven't seen a lot of written reviews besides me chasing down owners and asking about them.
If you’re worried mainly about a comfortable ride while getting a lowered look, I suggest upping the budget to RS-R or KW V3, as those will probably have a softer ride without sacrificing performance. Although I read from TSP that the RS-R spring rate on his personal commute was too soft, he switched them to a higher rate swift spring. Even Luigi from LMTLS told me he upped his spring rates since the RS-R ones were great for daily but just too soft for tracking. So, it all comes down to spring rates, dampening, and personal preference. However, with S3, I’m sure you can get a custom set that is a little softer for daily driving, around 8k/10k or even less. I don’t care personally; the only people in my car are me and my girlfriend. She also has a Porsche Macan, so if she didn’t want to deal with the ride, we could take her car, haha.
This is how she sits currently. -2.1 camber all the way around using rear camber arms on 18x9.5+38 275/35 tires. I will dial in fitment more tomorrow since the suspension has finally settled to get the perfect fit.
